Well, out of interest's sake I decided to do a Google search for sweatshops working for Wal-mart. Did you know that they have more than 1100 overseas operations in over 48 countries, but not a single operation in the United States? That is not true of the food though, because this ravioli is a product of the USA. Interesting stuff. The reason they are bragging about their falling prices? Because they are forever scouring the globe for factories that will produce their goods at a cheaper price. Already their employees are working for less than $.50 an hour, working 12 hour days 7 days a week. No healthcare, nothing. They have so much control whether a company lives or dies, and even entire towns.. It is kind of scary in a way, but rather cool in another thinking that a once puny concept can rise up to wield so much power in capitalist America. They have been removed from KLD & Co.’s Domini 400 Social Index which provides information to investors because of sweatshop conditions. And just to think, I really like that cool shirt. I do not buy clothes, toys and stuff from them anyways (except that one shirt). I only buy pet food if I happen to be there, some food products, candy, the rare computer product, video games and the occasional plunger (the dog loved them). Other than that I just love going to a competitor and saying "but Wal-mart has it for THIS price" so I can get an even better deal... lol. You can save a lot of money that way. For clothing and stuff I am very picky. I will not wear anything they have there.
