When I was really young the kids in my neighborhood thought things like "Hush Hush Sweet Charlotte," "Picture Mommy Dead," "Bad Ronald," "The Devil's Rain," and "The Legend of Hell House" were all pretty exciting.

Saving Private Ryan.   I know it isn't the regular scary movie but the beach scenes are way to realistic and scared the crap out of me.   Made my grandkids go watch it then had a loooooooooong talk with them about dowing what they could to prevent other wars.   2 of the grandkids puked and had nightmares for several weeks.  Good  Made the imjpression on them that I wanted.

For Lorgrom it is "People under the stairs" - now there was a really messed up family.

For Miskel it was (when younger) "The birds", and now she doesn't watch horror movies at all.

"What Ever Happened to Baby Jane".  It wasn't necessarily a horror film but it was scary and Bette Davis was campy in it.  I do like the classics, "The Birds" "Psycho".

I agree katy, and while I tend to go for the more graphic gore, Baby Jane was scary and a classic. Whats even scarier is that ya know theres people like her in the world. Maybe..even on this board.  Muhahahahahahaha

this slave has always enjoyed horror movies, back to the ones that they used to show on Saturday afternoons ( I was a teenage werewolf, dracula, frankenstein, etc ) The first time this slave ever had nightmares from one though was when she watched Salem's Lot on television ( of course this slave was only about 12 at the time). She still remembers waking up in the middle of the night screaming from one scene in there
Now, this slave would have to say that the scariest she has seen to date is The Exorcism of Emily Rose. That one gave this slave goosebumps.

horror films of the gore type don't tend to scare me, but i can get really afected by psychological thrillers. i love silence of the lambs and red dragon, to me they are scarier than most 'typical' horrr films. SAW II is the first film i've ever watched where i had to turn my face away from the screen more than once; normally i'll sit through anything.

Hmm the scariest.. hard to say especially as times change so too do the themes on horror from the mildly mundane to the over the top gross-outs.

In the 70s Id say The Exorcist and Night of the Living Dead. Then in the 80s Jason did a great job if you happened to catch that series at the drive-in long before the censors hacked out all the real obscenities.

More recently I'd hafta say My faves now are Rob Zombie's '' The Devils Rejects'' and 'Silent Hill''  course George A. Romero's zombie classic's  'Night, Dawn, Day and Land of the Dead' remain beyond reproach.

I believe that it was a Dario Argento film entitled "Demons", from the 1980's.  I am a connoisseur of Italian horror films from that era. TreSwank may despise science fiction, anime, and fantasy games, but he's still got a big dorky side!!

..........different things scare different people...........'American History X' was kinda scary in one way.......as was 'Sunset Boulevard', sort of eerie scary, the scene with Buster Keaton sticks in the mind........but for pure glorious schlock horror, there can be only one.......ladies and gentlemen, i give you Peter Jacksons 'Braindead'......

I'm going to switch to "SE7EN." A film that has almost no onscreen violence whatever, but still manages to be fairly creepy. Also has a very decent soundtrack including some NIN bit and "The Heart's Filthy Lesson" by David Bowie from his perhaps best album ever: "Outside."

David Mills: What's in the box?

this slave thought that Seven was very good also. She also enjoyed Bless the Child.

much like others, this slave perfers the more psychological thrillers to the actual blood and guts gore that seems to have taken over  Give this slave a movie that makes her think about the possibilities and that will scare her more than seeing someone cut to ribbons.

One of my favorites is Halloween III.  It had nothing to do with first two Halloween movies, which pissed people off I suspect, but it was deeply creepy.  All it had in common with Michael Myers story was the same theme music.

Saw Alien when I was around 11, it got me.
