The club I belong to has a Dungeon Party 3 times a month, and over the last few years, the music selection has become rather stale and boring in my opinion. It's been a lot of what I would catagorize as 'ethereal trance'. In an effort to bring some life to the aural pleasure ratio so to speak, I'm in the process of making some new CD's.

So, I appeal to you. What do you like to listen to when you scene? What artists and songs do you find yourselves gravitating to? I'm looking for suggestions from everyone....submissives, Dom/me's and Switches.

It depends on the scene, and the energy of it. Peter Gabriel's "Passion" (music for and inspired by The Last Temptation of Christ) has some great songs on it, mostly instrumental but a few with lyrics as well. They can invoke all kinds of moods. There's one track in particular, A Different Drum, that's really great - almost like "jungle drums"...very percussive and primal feeling. Sometimes I want to scream and pound my fists and stomp my feet, so I want something with a really serious bass line and driving rhythm. Other times I want to get quiet, floaty, etc, so things like Mozart really work for me. I have a cd by the Canadian composer R. Murray Schaeffer that's ethereal but still creates really interesting tension. I've found some of the Cirque du Soleil soundtracks can be fun too. Dan Gibson's Solitudes has some really great choices that include "nature" sounds which can be an interesting addition. Classical music offers lots of choices as well, from baroque (steady repetitive rhythms for percussion scenes) to the very intense and dramatic Russian masters, and the sweetly romantic composers. Sometimes I just want to get raunchy with some Marilyn Manson, Rammstein, Limp Bizket, etc.

I would have a hard time selecting music for an entire club. Is there an option for letting people put their own music on if they want something in particular to feed the energy of a scene they're doing?

Thanks Sherri. Yes, and that's what I'm doing. I'm making a CD to bring with me and throw into the 'club stash'. I'm just finding what we have already to be a little stale.

Oh, and I TOTALLY agree with you on Gabriel's Passion. I own it, and I LOVE to use it as scene music.

Status: offline 		Depends on the mood and the participants. Personally synthpop, future tech, and EBM has worked best for my Fetish Club nights but those were primarilly the vinyl vs leather groups.

Status: offline 		I can work with any song with a good rythem and beat. Classic, Rock, Jazz, Metal, R&B, Techno, Rave, Blues etc... I can mustar up a routine.

As for your club well maybe it can consider themes.

Gothic Night, Punk Night, Rock n Roll Night, Jazz and oldies night. Country music works to but I perfer not to work with it.

I like working with songs by Cake such as Going the Distance. I also have a nice routine to Another One Bites the Dust by Queen. American Pie is also a number I can do just about anything to. She Drives me Crazy, Whip It and I Love Rock N Roll, are three of my favorite 80's songs to scene with.

Down on the Corner and Lee Roy Brown are two songs that I like as well.

As always I like working with Korn, Metalica, GunsNRoses, Bush, Marlin Manson, Pink Floyd, and Nine Inch Nails. The Utah Saints always rule. I also like the music from the Texas Toad Lickers that gave a good performance on the John Carpenters Vampires soundtrack.

On lighter notes; Enya, Sara Mcloclan, and Enigma are nice from time to time to scene, have sex to, and work great with after care. Also, Barry White and Issac Hayes have always been able to set the mood for me. The Rat Pack (God bless there souls) is an unmatched clasic all to themselves. Songs byTony Bennet also works for me.

Other that what I've told you, you can also start investing in Sound Tracks to obtain a larger variety of music that can give most ppl a song or two that they like. The Faculty, Pulp Fiction, Queen of the Damn, Phantom of the Opera, American WereWolf in Paris, Lost Boys, The Mask, Dark City, and Mortal Combat are great soundtracks to start off with.

If you are looking for a VERY UNIQUE selection ... There is an event which takes place in Providence, Rhode Island during the warmer months (and on New Year's Eve) called "Water Fire" which INSIDEYOURMIND and i enjoy attending. He took me there to observe it for the first time in July'04, on the night i was given His collar. i was very impressed with the music that they play during the event. As i listened, i couldn't help but think that it would do quite well as mood setting music during BDSM play etc. The sounds are very unique, and quite an impressive selection of sensual, soft music with a spiritual edge. i like the selection because it serves as good 'background sound' rather than music which drowns out conversations & other 'more enjoyable' sounds in the room. It could serve as a great selection for any BDSM Club, or just personal/private play sessions.

I too love the Peter Gabriel, but it's been mentioned here.

I also like a group called A Perfect Circle. You may find their moods appropriate.

As for the "Enigma-like" music (I used to like enigma, before it was played so often it became a bit like a water torture to listen to) there is a group called Delerium that you might like. I prefer them to Enigma.

I"m sure there are a zillion others that my sleep adled brain can't summon at the moment. So Sorry.

Status: offline 		I prefer to hear goth industrial type music during a scene. I love Marilyn Manson, My Life with the Thrill Kill Cult, Ministry, Lords of Acid, and much more.

It is going to be difficult to make a club CD with so many different taste out there. Good luck!!

There's a wide variety of happening sounds out there, going back to Depeche Mode and even Blue Oyster Cult. Heck, I should make myself such a CD from my massive collection. Thanks for the idea?

Status: offline 		Try The Cure, "Lullaby", and Sarah McLachlan's "Possession"... others we use are some (but not TOO much) Enigma, Madonna- "Erotica", Death In Vegas- "Dirge", Garbage- "No. 1 Crush". At other times, He prefers complete silence, so he can relish every moan, whisper and scream.
