This is the greatest thread...lol

michaelGA2 -> RE: Myths... (9/26/2006 9:46:43 AM)

MYTH: all male subs/slaves are in it for sex.

untrue, i find that there's many things a sub/slave can do for a Dominant without having sex involved.

LadyEllen -> RE: Myths... (9/26/2006 9:51:39 AM)

1) If a single female goes to a venue, she's obviously fair game for every guy in the room and will be interested in anything he's into, regardless of her own interests.
2) That her polite conversation indicates she is desperate for attention and will do whatever it is he wants to do.
3)That when she leaves the room to get away from him, that means she wants him to follow her and bother her again.

Now, she might be going as part of her search, she does have an idea what she's looking for, she's not that desperate that anyone and anything will do, and whilst sometimes she might invite a chase, thats not always whats going on.....

      That a Dominant Sadist can't enjoy an occasional evening as a kinky-sex bottom.

Or is this another male fantasy like watching two women get it on?

You know guys... "hope springs eternal".

Silvermoon -> RE: Myths... (9/26/2006 10:12:23 AM)

Ok, we've all see/heard/experienced this one - (said with distaste)

There is no difference between Submissive and Submission therefore all Submissives must show their Submission to All.

oh that one REALLY gets my goat!

Your a Dom you can't possibly care what marks or damage you do to your sub/slave. That one makes Me shake My head.

What myths do you believe other people think of your role or orientation?

Good topic. The single most subversive myth I have encountered thus far is the idea that consensual slavery cannot ever be true slavery, that if slavery is not defined and supported in legal chattel terms, it is merely role play. I cannot begin to adequetly express how dangerous an assumption this is.

marieToo -> RE: Myths... (9/26/2006 11:01:37 AM)

There are several myths that come to mind.  But if I had to say that one seemed more prevalent, it would be the myth (or belief) that people in general who engage in wiitwd somehow love harder, trust deeper, communicate better,  and bond more tightly than those who do not.

amayos,

What do you feel are the (specific) dangers involved with this thought or assumption?

Yes, and i have often heard folks who are in the lifestyle, state that they believe that those involved are more intelligent and aware of themselves, etc.  i believe it depends upon the company one is surrounded by at the time it is said or felt to be true. On the flip side, i have often heard from those who oppose the lifestyle say that we are all just a bunch of dumb asses chasing temporary highs. Go figure...criticisms and myths always seem to make for interesting threads though. *grin

jesskitty -> RE: Myths... (9/26/2006 2:25:39 PM)

the most typical ones(limited to probably three) that i see:
1.if you are a little girl then your submissive, basically that the littlegirl,daddy,littleboy,momy and all it's varients can't be a defined role such as a submissive or a domiant is

2.people who are into ageplay or adult/little roleplay have been abused by their parents, lacked attention from parents, and are trying to makeup for some problem in their childhood.

3.when it comes to being in a little mindset you either are a specific age(say 9 or 12) the whole time, you either are an age range around middle school, or you either are a infant range and you can't change from one to another or go inbetween these.

Lashra -> RE: Myths... (9/26/2006 2:28:20 PM)

If your female you must be submissive and if your male you just have to be dominant[:-]

that's a good one. it could also be applied to alot of what society thinks males and females should or have to be.

LaTigresse -> RE: Myths... (9/26/2006 2:53:46 PM)

That male dominants think getting their picture taken with sunglasses on makes them look tougher.

MASTERRocker -> RE: Myths... (9/26/2006 3:17:24 PM)

MasterC46910 -> RE: Myths... (9/26/2006 3:18:37 PM)

Bearlee -> RE: Myths... (9/26/2006 3:19:12 PM)

That a female who Tops must be a Domme...   I'm NOT!

LOL    I do not have a dominant bone in my body; much to the dismay of a boy I know.
