Aine -> Community,DatingSite or Both? (9/27/2006 11:13:44 AM)

Ok...I know this place is set up similar to a dating site...

I also know that it calls itself a "BDSM Community"

I see it as both of those things by definition.

What does everyone else think this site is for and what reasons are you here?

jesskitty -> RE: Community,DatingSite or Both? (9/27/2006 11:17:02 AM)

this seems like one of the few places i think it can actually be a community. from what i've viewed it seems most of the regulars actually get attached and know and check up on the people in here versus just a place where you come to discuss ideas. so to me it looks like it can be both.

To alleviate my boredom.

I think the forums make this place a community, the otherside is the dating place

I am here for the community

I think the forums make this place a community and an educational site to learn many things related to various topics posted on the form.

Aine -> RE: Community,DatingSite or Both? (9/27/2006 11:23:04 AM)

See...I use both sides.  We all do.  That's where our general information is, right?  That's where our profiles are, despite what is in them and what we are all looking for/not looking for.

I actually started completely over in the other side, sending and responding to intelligent and friendly and informative emails, and some not so nice email.  I'm a regular in the lobby chat room where I can relax just as well as I can relax and chit chat or have meaningful debates and conversations as I do over here in the forums.

I feel a community setting over there as much as I do over here.

raiken -> RE: Community,DatingSite or Both? (9/27/2006 11:28:09 AM)

i am on here to meet new folks, exchange ideas and perspectives, and enjoy conversing in the forums when i have free time.  If something else besides a new friend comes out of the deal, than great, if not, it is still great, for i have met another like minded person to hopefully share life with on some level of connection or friendship. i have met many wonderful folks on here, and amazingly some are right around the corner and if it were not for us being on here, we may not have met for some time, if at all.  Ya just neva know what life has in store, once ya put yourself out there and become visible to the masses online.  For some it is fruitful and for others, it is not.  There are many avenues to traverse, but for myself, i have found online interactions to be of value for the most part.

One of the first things I came to appreciate about this site was it's educational aspect. I've learned alot lurking and reading the boards. So I'd like to say thanks to all you regulars that provide that information for U/us lurkers!  As a dating site? Well, I get ALOT of talk but very little action - lol. [;)]

juliaoceania -> RE: Community,DatingSite or Both? (9/27/2006 11:29:38 AM)

You do not have to have a profile to use the forums. You can use the other side to have people here contact you if you wish. You could use the other side to meet only friends, as that classification does exist there. I use both sides. I do not use either side for finding partners as I have one. I have considered closing my profile and keeping my membership just to post here because I get tired of troll mail

You were asking my opinion of how I use this site, I gave it is all...

MsKatHouston -> RE: Community,DatingSite or Both? (9/27/2006 11:29:57 AM)

I use it for entertainment, to meet interesting people as friends as well as more, and to exchange information and to improve my tetris score

Aine -> RE: Community,DatingSite or Both? (9/27/2006 11:30:14 AM)

I just think it's funny that there are some on here that don't believe that any of us should be here since we are already in relationships and are not looking for new partners or just aren't plain 'ol whores.

MASTERRocker -> RE: Community,DatingSite or Both? (9/27/2006 11:33:58 AM)

??? Really??? I enjoy the chats - and time to unwind before everyone comes home. And the teasing is nice as well....

It is 2 different communitys. Some people interact in both. You meet more people on the other side. Overall you learn more here.

Your opinion.

I've learned a great deal here and from the people over in the "other side".

But I do thank you for saying that it is two -communities-.

That's how I see  it,  and while  there is the dating  site factor with the setup....it's no less a community than it is over here.

Dnomyar -> RE: Community,DatingSite or Both? (9/27/2006 12:39:41 PM)

The other side is diffently more of a dating community.

I'm here because I have days when I feel like bashing my head against a wall and this is a much healthier alternative... sort of.

I first came to CM seeking bdsm information, I stay for the entertainment factor, it's someplace I can just let loose once and a while and say things I don't often say in my day to day life.  I do care about others and will, on occassion check up on people that I'm concerned about if I feel it warranted.  But I see CM no different than most chat rooms, personalities all over the place , people coming and going people connecting on many levels, many superficial and some that will endure.  Its all good.

What was the question

Oh yeah, commiunity or dating site or both?  My answer is its Both

For me, my primary focus would be to find an appropriate partner.  Except for the fact that I am not 'reaching out and touching' right now on that side.

I am here to share my thoughts and opinions, my philosophies and humor.  It is possible that I will be found, in a passive sense, by being here.

Community is a nice word to describe it; lunatic asylum might be more accurate.
