Republicans have always treasured their pocket books more than their country.  They almost betrayed us to Hitler and Japan prior to WWII, to say otherwise is to attempt to revise and falsify history.

Pakistanis and Saudi Arabians planned an executed the attack against us.  Bush chose them as allies...

Saddam who was always an enemy of Al Queda (as us liberals have stated all along) as the Republican congress has recently discovered, was the country Bush decided to overthrow.

All while sending Billions to Pakistan.

So while you may find it offensive Rich, I find Republican actions treasonous.  I have no doubt you were calling Democrats traitors for criticising the rush to invade Iraq and again called them traitors for wanting to see the plan (which turned out not to exist) so if you are offended by the truth then you might want to reexamine your values and applogize to those not only loyal liberals you called traitors but tell them you wish America had listened to them in the first place.

Then you misjudge me badly.  The word has crossed my mind more than once in recent years but I don't think I have ever applied it to the Dems as a whole.  I DO believe their perpetuation of partisan hatred has damaged the efforts of the country since 9/11.  I believe the practice of attacking damn near every move Bush makes wrecks their credibility when it matters for more than a sound bite.  That makes them dumb and short-sighted, not traitors.

Now the New York Times, repeatedly publishing classified information.....

because damn near every move bush makes is up for attack. he had no concrete evidence to go in there in the first place other than the inevitable no-bid contracts that halliburton would get.  he had no exit strategy, he GROSSLY underestimated the time frame of the engagement, he eschews and ignores the war plans or strategies given to him by top military advisors, his administration is blatantly turning a blind eye to the civil war that is erupting in iraq.. and .. and... and.. the list goes on and on.

if/when the democrats went along with the war in the beginning then changed their minds it's because they, like most of the unaware and misinformed american citizens, went onward based on bush's WoMD "intelligence" information then changed their stance once it became clear that A: iraq is out of our control.. B: there were no weapons & C: iraq had nothing to do with the attacks.

like CrappyDom said.. most of the attackers were Saudi and we do nothing but smile in their faces & glad hand them any chance we get.

it's much less offensible for Dems to concede to waging a pre-emptive strike based on poor intelligence information only to *see the light* and change a stance later.. than it is for  Republicans to concede to waging a pre-emptive strike based on poor intelligence information only to not admit an egregious boo boo at all.

i think it's bigger of the Dems to say.. ooops, ok we fucked up.. how do we resolve it. than for the Repubs to say.. ok, we had poor intelligence (aka we fucked up) and not do a damn thing to rectify it.

and i'm neither democrat or republican.. i knew this was gonna be a big fuck up before we even went there and i never supported going against the UN. that's why we're pretty much bearing the brunt of this war on our shoulders nearly alone along with the British Troops. dumb and short sighted is under estimating cost, casualty, iraqi revolt, length of conflict and ignoring top military brass.. that's the epitome of treachery and it's not doing a single thing for our country after 9/11.

CrappyDom -> RE: Iraqis favor attacks on Americans (9/28/2006 5:55:37 PM)

Rich,

Name an action of Bush that the Democrats HAVEN'T supported that didn't turn out to be either:
  • Shortsighted
  • Counterproductive
  • Erroneous
  • Based on false and misleading information

I didn't hate Bush when he won in 2000.  What has made me hate Bush is that when a Democrat has raised loyal (and in retrospect correct) lines of questioning they used the most cynical ways to discredit and undermine that Democrat.  Look what they did to John Murtha's thoughtful resolution about a well thought out and unrushed exit from Iraq.  Did they discuss it on the merits or even simply say that while they respect him, they are in charge and have a different opinion?  NO.  Instead the drafted their infamous "cut and run" bill and slapped the label of COWARD on John Murtha.

So forgive me if my congenial dislike of Bush has been fanned into full fledged raging hatred by their actions.

WyrdRich -> RE: Iraqis favor attacks on Americans (9/28/2006 6:27:35 PM)

First thing that comes to mind is the bullshit attacks on Bolton because he didn't have the right temperment for the UN.  Seen the talking points since Clinton went off on Chris Wallace?  Losing your temper is helpful and productive.

And now, I shall bid you good night.

Bolton was clearly counterproductive and their efforts to sell him as a reasoned voice were clearly lies so you still haven't answered the question.

As for Clinton, that was six years ago and we are discussing Bush, please at least try and stay on topic, that doesn't seem like too much to ask.

For those who say well it wouldn't be happening but for the war , thats because Saddam would have killed them !

That is an extremely naive and ill-informed opinion.

seeksfemslave -> RE: Iraqis favor attacks on Americans (9/29/2006 12:35:12 AM)

You say I am naive Skatty?... well the Weapons of Mass Destruction may not have been found... but the Graves of Mass Destruction HAVE been found, in several different locations throughout Eyeraq.

In my opinion the War , which went fairly well if you can say that about War, has unleashed the murderous hatreds that exist between Eyraqis. That is the problem; not having a strategy to deal with that possiblity is the cause of the current catastrophe.

Who blew up that Mosque a few months ago ?  It wasn't Brit/US troops was it ?

Cant argue with the point that is was known that Saddam was a sworn enemy of Al Queda tho' !

Kedicat -> RE: Iraqis favor attacks on Americans (9/29/2006 2:47:47 AM)

Now this is just unfair.
Did they even offer other choices in the poll?
This slights the Brits and other coallition of the sheep members. It's quite possible the Iraqis might actually have others at the top of the hit list, or at least close to the top. Even ones that aren't in Iraq. Some Iraqis may have vacationed in France and would prefer to kill frenchman if they could. At least a top ten of who they want to kill would give us all a fair chance at national, ethnic pride of being hated. Biased journalism!

cloudboy -> RE: Iraqis favor attacks on Americans (9/29/2006 5:00:12 PM)

A friend of mine used to find it baffling how Rumsfeldt could speak of "foreign invaders" in IRAQ. It shows a bit of disconnect.

I know for DAMNED sure if I saw some Chinese dude with a Red flag painted on his helmet marching in my town...he is going to wish he NEVER came down my street.

What's the difference between that and an American walking down an Iraqi street?

They certainly don't see us as "liberators" like the G-daamned Politicians in Washington WANT us to believe.

..

NorthernGent -> RE: Iraqis favor attacks on Americans (9/30/2006 12:07:04 AM)

Poll: Iraqis back attacks on U.S. troops

About six in 10 Iraqis say they approve of attacks on U.S.-led forces, and slightly more than that want their government to ask U.S. troops to leave within a year, a poll finds.

Level, you have to put this in its context. It is common for an occupying force to be despised (especially if there is dubious reasons for being there). I imagine that the catholic population of Northern Ireland had similar feelings towards the British Army.

This is only going to end one way, American and British soldiers will die and eventually the numbers will reach a height that demands public outrage. As a result, both Governments will be forced to listen, withdraw the armies and will have achieved not a great deal apart from securing oil supply and construction contracts.

seeksfemslave -> RE: Iraqis favor attacks on Americans (9/30/2006 12:44:00 AM)

Why will no one on this thread accept that by and large the Eyeraquis are killing one another ?

Am I wrong ?

homoincesto -> RE: Iraqis favor attacks on Americans (9/30/2006 6:43:33 AM)

The whole world favours attacks on americans because your a load of ill educated cretins who think might and theft is right. The other day 5 armoured vehicles escorting 7 trucks ran aay when some iraqis detonated a road side bomb and started sniping at the civilian contractors. Yanks great at killing unarmed civilians in large numbers and attacking lightly armed sevral dozen  iraqis in falugia with a frigging brigade, but run and leave civilians to get killewhen they are ambushed.

A post like this, questioning other people's education, is very funny.[;)]

mnottertail -> RE: Iraqis favor attacks on Americans (9/30/2006 2:27:37 PM)

I accept that Iraquis are killing one another, but not by and large.  Of course the Iraquis favor attacks on the US, because they were doing just fine before we walked in there, and they do not want us in their country...end of joke.

Assume the Irktuskians invaded america...................

would you favor counter-attacks on such as them?  Would you deplore the disfavor that quislings might find themselves subject to?   Would you be a partisan or an insurgent or a combatant?

Some people here obviously need some life skills and need to quit watching the Oxygen channel, and fox.

If America were a horrible country, I might not be upset over being invaded, especially if it incorporated serious attempts at bettering things.

And I tried to find Irkustinaia on the map, is it just north of Jersey? [:D]

mnottertail -> RE: Iraqis favor attacks on Americans (9/30/2006 2:38:16 PM)

Irktusk is a country in Risk (or some such war game).  And no, america is the greatest country on earth....as descried by many posters here and at large, so there is no betterment.........invasions are bad for america, but good for all the other fuckwads out there.

LOL,
Ron
