Here in vegas we had an off~duty Highway Patrolman
who was on his way home
speeding, and he ran into a car loaded with Illegal Aliens.

He survived, the people in the other car did not.
He was doing 112 before hitting them.

He called His lawyer and was taken home.
Not Jail but home.

Somehow this does not seem right.

Case is pending?

In Houston this week an illegal alien from Mexico who was once deported for assaulting a 12 year old, murdered a Police officer, shooting him 4 times in the back. The officer left behind a wife and 5 kids. Somehow this just doesn't seem right.

You're not the least bit worried about a police officer who drives at 112 mph and crashes into other vehicles? I doubt he knew that they were illegal aliens before he hit them.

If you are sincerely more concerned about the risks of being shot by a handcuffed illegal than the risk of having your car hit by a grossly negligent cop, please don't have kids.

I agree with Strong. I am VEHEMENTLY opposed to the flood of illegal immigrants, and think they should all be sent back to where they came from, and more stringent measures taken to secure our borders. But this guy KILLED a carload of people! So the f*** what if they were illegals? They were PEOPLE. It could have just as easily been a car of churchgoers, or a family picnicing, it could just have easily been your family or mine. This guy was criminally negligent to the point of murder (come on, 112 mph?) ...and in law enforcement as well? He should be put in prison for the rest of his life, not hand slapped because they were "just" illegals. More shame to those who can only see "illegals" and not people whose lives were ended violently by someone else's criminal behavior.

I find it embarassing every time I see so-called Americans expressing the opinion that it is perfectly acceptable to conditionally abandon our own personal honor and laws if people from other countries are involved. The officer was breaking the law. This wasn't an immigration sting gone wrong. He was driving recklessly and killed people. This is not the case of an unfortunate officer involved death in the line of duty, this is just another dangerous asshole on the highway, whether he wears a badge for his day job or whether his victims had green cards is irrelevant.

....problem is, for a significent number of Americans it isn't irrelevant. This is nothing new.........it's a sad fact, but while America may be the ecomnomic world leader, even a military one...when it comes to justice, the US has a lot to learn from, say, Tonga or maybe Luxemburg. Whatever did happen to the US pilot who killed those people in the Italian cable car? Still flying is he? Who knows, 'cos the US whipped him out of Italy before the authorities there could even question him. Justice, in American terms, is not applied to other nationalities. Which makes it not justice. To quote Shakespeare, justice is indivisible.

If there was a bond posted, then he probably was able to go home. If the case is still pending, then the story is not complete. I would find it difficult to make this into a illegal vs legal resident discussion based on the information you gave, and I don't think it matters anyway. If he was breaking the law by speeding and he killed a group of people, it shouldn't matter who was in the car.

..you can say that while Guatanamo Bay exists? A facility so illegal it couldn't be allowed on American soil so it had to be placed overseas? As for it being an overgeneralisation, you have utterly missed the point implied by the Shakespeare quote. Justice is only justice when it is applied to all.

Its OK to kill people because they're illegals?

Based on that sort of reasoning, why not round them all up and open a few concentration camps where they can be executed and their organs removed for use on US patients, where they can be used to test new drugs and treatments and weapons, where scientists can experiment to their heart's content to investigate matters banned under ethical codes, and where torture methods can be evaluated for use elsewhere?

OK, they shouldnt have been there, but this cop behaved in a way so far beyond the pale, that only the implied cheers and utter lack of humanity from some here goes further. I wonder how many of these people could look into the eyes of a four year old Hispanic girl and shoot her mom and then her in cold blood because they're illegals? I wonder how much cheering or lack of emotion that would provoke from the majority of US citizens?

There is no good reason to punish people who confess to crimes they didn't commit. We should only punish people who actually commit crimes. People should not be punished if there is no evidence against them.

I don't give a damn if they are legal, illegal, blue, green or otherwise...THEY ARE HUMAN BEINGS..with families, children, etc...and that ass should be sitting in jail for killing them with his vehicle...people don't realize a vehicle can be a weapon! Maybe if you lived for a minute in some other countries you would consider running here to live......and then we can run YOU over with a car and get away with it

I normally don't take the side of police, but a car accident is a car accident,
not a deliberate act.  I wouldn't put someone in jail just for taveling at 112 mile
per hour. Just because he was driving a 112 miles an hour does not mean he
was driving dangerously.   Germans drive 140 mile per hour on the autobahn.
He may have been speeding, but the real question is why the accident? Did
he have a high-speed blowout? Or was he otherwise driving recklessly
weaving in and out around cars?

Illegal aliens kill far fewer people than do American citizens. No one
would have bet that an illegal alien who molested a twelve year old
would later kill a police officer.   If he served his time for the first
offense, then what else should have been done?
