I am reminded of Ashcroft spending thousands of dollars to cover the indecent Lady Justice sculpture at the Department of Justice

In My eyes, this is one of those situations where everyone is being too politically correct.  We can not see a penis!!  Holy shit!!  Put underwear on it or something.  That is the pinnacle of politically correct stupidity.  It was the Dems that started the PC nonsense, and now it has escalated out of control to the point where a kid can not even see a piece of art without some stupid ass parents getting their titties in a twist.

Womyn was My way of being sarcastic, because that is more politically correct crap.

It is not My fault you can not perceive more than "eat, sleep and have sex".

Wow! I am crushed by your superior put down.

So where exactly does the article say that Dem PC womyn led the charge agasinst this teacher? Nowhere that I see. Must be your imagination. And since when does the left advocate sexual repression? I thought they were responsible for the wicked free love movement that has resulted in the decline of morality and the war on family values etc etc... *removes tongue from cheek*

Really, Kenin, if you are going to use simple labeling propaganda to construct your "arguments" at least keep your stereotypes straight. Labeling is about saving time by avoiding facts and complexities, not wasting time getting your straw dogs mixed up. All that stuffing everywhere...

This doesn't come from the Dems, Kenin.  This comes from the Religious Right.

PC thinking comes from the Dems, actually.  The Board adheres to that line of thinking.

I realize that the religious right are usually the ones opposing these stupid nude sculptures and I think that is plain idiotic to be honest.  However, the Dems paved the way for them to do so.

"Hey!  I was gonna hump that leg!"

.........see?....it begins.......the Victorian era is upon us once again.....it's ok to exploit child labour as long as its not too obvious, ok to have an incredibly condescending foreign policy and ok totreat the planet like a cess pit......but God forbid we ever have to look at anything lewd..........

We also need to put those little frilly covers on the exposed ends of chicken legs, pork chops and turkey drumsticks.  Wouldn't want all those suggestible, incontinent men gettin' ideas, y'know?

E.

Dammit....who let the dog eat the pork chops????

The first utterance of political correction in the United States was by a man named John Bascom.  John Bascom just so happened to be a Democrat supporter.  In the 80's even the Dems were joking about it, criticizing some branches of the left wing.  In the 1990's, the Republicans lashed out against political correction (declaring certain topics, expressions and gestures off limits).

Kirei -> RE: Art Teacher Lose Job After Kids See Nude Sculpture (9/28/2006 4:16:33 PM)

If the church could dig up a past pope and put the corpse on trial.....why does this surprise you?  Churches all over think there is a homosexual agenda...hell I heard this from my mother...and I'm a transexual.  I wonder what would happen if they came to take me away....if she would let them like the Nazi's once did?    Personally I think they would...which is sad.
People are afraid to learn and look within themselves is what I see.

Kirei -> RE: Art Teacher Lose Job After Kids See Nude Sculpture (9/28/2006 4:18:00 PM)

All this is because the church is trying to use its power to bring things back to the good ole days.  Well medievel times weren't that great to me.  I would bet my life thats where this comes from.

Good use of wikipedia, but how does that demonstrate that the religious right got the idea of censoring nudity and such from the Democrats?  I still say Christianity is a tad older.

It looks like the nude art was a smoke screen presented by the teacher as a diversion for not preparing lesson plans and having issues with the school's principal.

Note the hearing was at the teacher's request. The teacher says her bad evaluations started after the school trip.

quote:

At Ms. McGee's request, the situation was aired in public during a school board meeting Monday.
The school board rejected a request that would have allowed Ms. McGee to transfer to another school.

Ms. McGee said principal Nancy Lawson called her into a meeting the day after the trip to admonish her about the parent's complaint. Shortly thereafter, she received a negative review and a series of directives about displaying student artwork and creating lesson plans.

Remember this is Texas. I'm sure the Bush family and Haliburton are ultimately at fault. Most likely it was a Haliburton statue paid for with tax dollars that offended the parents of President Bush's nephew.

I know.  I am awesome.  But see, if you know your stuff first, then you know what to look for to verify it before you type it somewhere and stick your proverbial foot in your mouth.  It is too bad more people do not do that on here.

Anyways...In Italy they are very religious.  Very Catholic.  They have some of the world's greatest masterpieces there.  You do not see them censoring that, do you?

Top that off with the fact that this trip was mandated  the district and I see something beyond the sculpture being the real issue in her fireing.
Not sure what that might be but the mandated trip resulting in a fireing kinda has me suspecting they wanted her out for some other reason and this was a convienient excuse they could get away with.

Archer,
Correct - Sounds like we need Paul Harvey to hear; "the rest of the story". My suspicion is that the teacher leaked this incident to solicit support. Either that or this is a very rich school district that has a few extra million to spend defending and paying for a wrongful termination lawsuit. Or a very poor underprivileged district where neither the principal and the parents have never been to a museum to know that some art is uncovered.

She's been teaching for 28 years but the school has only been in existence for 6. I don't know what the rules are in Texas, but why doesn't she have tenure instead of a year to year contract? Also curious why this is showing up in a Kansas TV channel site. This story is regarding a incident that occurred last April. Slow news day in Kansas City?

Maybe Ms. McGee can take solace in #10 from the school's 'Ten Everyday Fisher Essentials'; "Be positive and enjoy life. Accept that making mistakes is a part of the process. Learn from them and move on."  Source: http://www.friscoisd.org/schools/fisher.htm

that rule stuff is scarry! there's a difference between teaching good manners(which i think the parents should do, not the teachers) and teaching were better than everyone else and this is why we act this way. and half of that stuff comes off as let's pretend were perfect and will always have our stuff together in life. :-\

Lordandmaster -> RE: Art Teacher Lose Job After Kids See Nude Sculpture (9/28/2006 8:10:00 PM)

So you're saying that no one ever objected to nude sculptures before Democrats started talking about political correctness?  Are you serious?

SirKenin -> RE: Art Teacher Lose Job After Kids See Nude Sculpture (9/28/2006 10:34:26 PM)

No, I am saying that noone ever did anything about it.

Lordandmaster -> RE: Art Teacher Lose Job After Kids See Nude Sculpture (9/29/2006 12:09:59 AM)

Then you don't know your history, Kenin.
