Status: offline 		*chuckles*  Unless you've had your genitalia removed, you've got a gender.  But seriously... I do get what you're asking.  I would guess that it depends on the Master and how seriously they take 'possessing' and 'objectifing' their slave/property.

So yes, slaves have gender.

Status: offline 		I understand the point behind the statement is that what's important to a slave is to adhere to their masters authority, and not any gender role assignations.

However, slaves still have gender and to suggest that one's gender identification does not strongly influence their overall sense of identity and choices in relationship is completely unrealistic.

Status: offline 		What LA said...genders experiencce different cyclic rhythyms, involving hormones, dispositions, and stages of growth that affect each gender in different areas as one matures.  It is wise, and may even be thought of as common sense, to consider gender as being a relevant factor in an M/s dynamic and structure.

Status: offline 		Slaves have a gender, of course.  Masters and Mistresses have gender preferences, and slaves fall into those preferences.  If your wise Master perhaps makes no distinction between his male and female slaves, then since their genders have no bearing on their responsablities and such, then I can see the logic behind the statement.
I, personally, prefer male slaves.

It would be more like having their brain removed :-)  Gender is a mental concept, vs sex which is biological.  One can be female in sex but masculine in orientation, or the opposite, or anywhere on the continuium that is sex and gender.

A slave has holes.  That's all I (that master) need to know.  And I'll use the one I wish when I get around to it.

gender has no meaning in his slaves. they are just slaves..
or maybe its a objectification  to remove your sexual gender.. breaking down your female superority.. by removing your gender and making you just a slave..
To be just a slave.. or just a object to be used.. kinda defeats the purpose of having a smart sexy sassy slave.. perhaps he isn't as wise as he claims.. but have to know what the context around this statement was to really figure out his meaning.

Status: offline 		I am wondering why you would consider someone wise who did not recognize gender in a person just because they were owned?  No offense, but that is one of the dumbest statements I have ever heard, beyond perhaps acknowledging him as some sort of wisdom guru.

I'd put it more as M. Fire's friend did, but I quite agree. 'Slave' transends (or subsumes) gender, IMO.
 
While the uses to which one might put a slave might be dependant on their corpus, it is slave that defines them- not gender.
