In my mind's eye, gender is what genital factors your born/blessed with.  With today's ability to reassign gender--one never knows sometimes.
 
But to my mind's eye--I don't qualify a slave by the genitals or their sex assignments and or preferences.  I envelope the entire person and see them as a slave or not.
 
When I see a police officer directing traffic--it is a police officer, an authority figure supported by the government and its laws.  True, you can make out if female or male however, their function has no exceptions--to protect, to defend innocent people from criminals, criminal attacks, arrest and present their criminal, the evidence and the elements of the crime to the courts.  The same can be seen with firefighters--until they take off their fire suits and helmets--you cannot tell the gender.  They still provide a wonderful service.  When the Pentagon and Twin Towers dropped; both men and women police and firefighters died--death doesn't play favorites with any gender.  The same can be said for the men and women serving in the military and dying there.  They shoot at the uniform--not the gender.

That said.  It really can be many different answers to how slaves are seen in another's eyes.  Most important, is what you see in your own eyes about yourself.

Status: offline 		The genitalia one is born with is their biological classification (call it their sex.) The way they view themselves societally - and how others view them, is their gender. Gender is a social assignation. As such, someone biologically male can envision themselves as being of a female gender and vice versa. (we're not talking just cross dressing here, but someone who actually sees him or herself as being a gender different from the genitalia he or she presents)

However, while a slave can be either male or female, it doesn't mean that slaves are "gender-less." They have gender and they have their sexual classification, and they have everything that comes with that classification (be it physically, emotionally and otherwise).

My Master is straight. He prefers biologically female slaves who are of the female gender. They have the right mind-set (feminine and submissive), mannerisms and genitalia for his purposes.

Status: offline 		This thread has been running around in my head all day long. Something's been bothering me about it, but I never could put my finger on what it was.

I got home a little while ago and took another look at it. That's when I realized what was bothering me so much.

I'm a slave. I'm not a "just" anyone. I'm a slave. I'm HIS slave. I take pride in what I do, and how I comport myself. It matters to me that I do the things he's asked me to do and do them right - as often as I possibly can. While I don't really care what other people think of me, if he ever thought of me as "just" a slave, I'd be very insulted.
"Just a slave" makes me feel like the generic brand of macaroni and cheese on the bottom shelf of the grocery store, with one brand being as good as any other - replaceable if you think about it. Whether I'm male or female, I would take offense at someone who would consider me, or anyone else to be generic. I am not generic. We - male and female slaves - are not generic. We all come with our own styles, our own views and our own areas of expertise. If the person I belong to thought so little of me, I'd be "just" gone.

I have often preferred speaking in terms of sex, not "gender."

Biologically, slaves will either be male or female.

Status: offline 		To the OP: depends on the context of the relationship. In my dynamic, of course my slave and subs have a gender, and I do my best to respect that (thank you transexuality and genderqueerness) despite what is expected of their biological sex.

Gender is not always tied to what you have or don't have between your legs. My slave is female to the nth degree, but stuck with a male penis. I am also genderqueer, nearly anomolous, slightly leaning male, despite the boobs and vagina I hate.

I would agree.  If its really about having a servant and only having a servant, gender wouldnt make a difference.  But for most people, even those who get close to that hardcore master/slave mindset, its still about being sexually attracted to the 'slave' or 'master'.

I would agree.  If its really about having a servant and only having a servant, gender wouldnt make a difference.  But for most people, even those who get close to that hardcore master/slave mindset, its still about being sexually attracted to the 'slave' or 'master'.


I get even more hardcore with sexual denial, and focus on service. It definitely weeds out the players from the devoted.

And to me, a devoted service slave is the ultimate in hard core M/s. I know why they are there.

Yw........I must admit that I am a bit jaded over the "pussy rules all" attitude that I see in so many female "slaves."

Sex is just a small part of what it means to be a servant. When you make it clear that an owner has every bit as much right NOT to use them sexually-as he does-you end up running a lot of the manure off of that big heap we have to dig through.

Do it long enough, you find a pearl.

For some, sex is part of it, for others its not.  I dont think either is right or wrong, but I can understand the mindset of  gender not being of any relevance to service.  I personally have been in both types of relationships.  One where I was used exclusively sexually and one where I wasnt used sexually at all.  Frankly, I found both to be rewarding.

And I dont think there is a "pussy rules all" attitude any more or less than a "cock rules all" attitude.  Some people are only out for sex others are not, others want something more substantial, whether in wittwd or vanilla.    Most people are sexually oriented, lets face that fact first and foremost,  and lets stop making it something dirty when someone (even a sub/slave/servent) is conscious of his/her/its sexuality and wants to live a life where they get to express it.
