I registered for the do not call list, too, but it doesn't stop those who automatically call sequentially. In other words, they start with an exchange, say 234- then call 1001,1002, 1003, and so on up to 9999. Best thing is to check the ID and not answer if it's an unfamiliar number. I got to a point where I kept my land line unplugged all the time and just used it for calling my cell phone to locate it when it was lost. I realized that all my friends and business associates used my cell phone anyway, so I finally just cancelled the land line a year ago. I haven't missed it at all. Of course, you can't be on dial-up internet access.
