ORIGINAL: MIslostsoul Before becoming a Slave or Submissive did you have a good idea of who you are and just what you wanted to do with your life? It seems to me that none of us ever know in general, static terms who we are and where we are going. IMO, its more useful to know who you are now and where you are going next. We are all necessarily constantly evolving and becoming new - not by replacing the old "us", but by integrating new qualities and renegotiating the roles of the old ones. If we aren't, why are we still here? And it is the unexpected things, the things we don't plan for, that impact on this process the most. So to me, I can never really know how the "me" of today will compare to the "me" a year from now. My approach to life, then, is more about understanding the past and the present, than planning anything for the future. I still look ahead, but only as far as the next bend - I know I can make rough sketches of what might happen from there, but in the end, its better off being a surprise. People often say to me that I seem to know exactly where I'm going and what I want. But the truth of it is, I've just stopped trying to know, and embraced the fact that I can't, as something beautiful. MIslostsoul, what is it about the qualities these people have that makes you say they have "no idea"? This may or may not be what you are seeing, but it seems to me that often this comes across more because people have this anxiety about needing to know the future, that seems to come from a pressure for people to "know themselves" in some way that, to me, can't really be acheived. yaq
