I would say four, My rationale is simply;
If you have 1 you get bored
If you have two they'll be fighting w/each other
If you have 3 you'll have 2 against one all the time
Whereas 4 is a nice round number & managable too

The rulebook doesnt quote numbers.  As many as you can comfortably own without anyone feeling left out, ignored or hurt.
Personaly, I never go above 2, but I tend to prefer and stick to 1. One well trained slave is worth far more in my eyes than a stable full of shallow pets.

Status: offline 		You take the number of your IQ divide it by four, add three, find the square root of that and deduct one.....that's how many slaves you can have.

If your IQ is really low you shouldn't be in charge of anyone anyway :)

I like the Indian (of the country India) way of asking about spouses/wives.  The philosophy is, never have more than you can support equally, love equally, cherish and have time for equally.
 
Being who and what I am, I am affectionate sort--so, I hug everybody equally from my heart, even if they are not my slaves.

Lass, are you thinking about adopting a whole lot of Masters and Mistresses?
 
I might be an interesting thought, in being 'adopted' by you, as you are such a sweet lass indeed.
 
But, that is indeed what slaves do when they agree to petition us for ownership, as you might wear a collar indeed but, someone has to hold the leash. [Chuckles]  Slaves choose us and that is a beautiful thing indeed lass.
 
Hope you put the Masters and Mistresses in seperate beds, as they do fight over the covers when its cold.  Dog house does not count either. [Chuckles]

Sorry to disagree Tiaz, but the actual number, according to the Big Book of BDSM is only half of the IQ of the Dominant.  However, there is always a however,  if the IQ is less than triple digits then the number is reduced to one quarter of the Dominants IQ.

This is a direct quote from the Big Book of BDSM.

A "master" shouldn't attempt to own anymore than he can take care of without putting an emotional,  mental or financial strain on the household.

In most cases that number equals zero.  Unfortunately those are the individuals who generally try to acquire a harem.

Classic example would be the *cough* dom couple who held a collaring ceremony for a friend of my ex.  At the ceremony the male half of the couple was trying to groom YET ANOTHER sub for collaring.

It took all my willpower to keep from laughing when I saw the collar they used for the party. 

It was VELCRO!

That was actually my comment to my ex as well.  "They know not how fitting a symbol that particular collar is for this group."
