I also think caitlyn is arguing very logically.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that I agree.

From here on in, I will no longer only discriminate against the fat & ugly, I will also shun the stupid.

PS:  I will now die single, as no woman of reasonable mental capacity would come within 40 feet of me.

Just to take my little spanner, wrench to you lot, out of the tool box, I always thought WMD meant improved rocket/weaponry to use to attack ISRAEL. Thats my take on what was meant. Not attack the West.

You don't remember Blair saying Saddam had missiles that could be ready to hit Britain within 45 minutes? I laughed at the time but apparently Mr Sincere was being serious....but very, very, wrong as usual.

Or maybe like his mate he was just lying.

seeksfemslave -> RE: Thick/Thin, Hot/Not, Smart/Stupid (10/4/2006 11:08:39 AM)

I remember Blair saying that the missiles could be LAUNCHED in 45 mins. The target that materialised was Cyprus, but as I say I read it as Israel.

Also I remember the "Big Gun" that Saddam tried to build as a threat to.... Israel ?, he, Saddam, was encouraged by one half of the Brit. Intelligence so as to find out what he was up to, while other departments in the Brit. government came very close to prosecuting the top executives in the firm that had contracts,. negotiated in the full knowledge of the secret services, with Saddam.

What a fiasco that was! Stiff upper lip chaps! Lets bowl a few googlies !

caitlyn -> RE: Thick/Thin, Hot/Not, Smart/Stupid (10/4/2006 11:18:20 AM)

CrappyDom had one of the most compelling arguments against our actions in Iraq, when he pointed out that Saddam represented one of our strongest bufferes to Islamic fundamentalists in the region. A good bit of the rest is speculation, and 'facts' spun to mean whatever you want them to mean, in my opinion.

I am sorry that you are offended, It is not my intent, but this is not an apology either.

I am all for exploring options, but not accustomed to unwarrented disbelief as a euphemistic argument  forwarded as equivalent truth.

The jews were never in the holocaust, they were at a deli on 42nd street in new york, know why?  Because nobody here on this thread was there, and can't possibly take the word of a few million people and photographic records and avidavits as statements of fact........shit, Nuremberg was a wag the dog movie.

I didn't ask for an apology ... nor did I ask for this example of holocaust denial to be placed by insinuation on the head of someone you do not agree with.

Not normally done in polite society.

mnottertail -> RE: Thick/Thin, Hot/Not, Smart/Stupid (10/4/2006 11:36:33 AM)

I did not say what I did because you asked or did not ask...as you know; I am capable of independant thought.

The point being that you can stand there and howl about how offended you are and that is supposedly prima facia evidence of your other-worldly open-mindedness?
I think not.

I did nothing by insinuation and didn't put the holocaust on your head...........you are a little too crispy today Caitlyn, too brittle......The point was one of equivalent arguments, and how that may fall akimbo of a square discussion.

Don't take this personally, because I am just practicing typing out here, I have no illusions that I am smugly right on all counts or that I am going to change one opinion out here..........including your's.

But don't play the 'See the brute is beating me card' in lieu of valid and supportable arguments.........You were proffered proof of Bushters bullshit, as opined by your calling the integrity of a FACT into question goddammit, don't play damsel in distress with me, you are far more intelligent and clever than that shit............

We can disagree and this is so NOT personal or vindictive.

Admiringly (but not right now),

How is it that even a thread about the fat and the ugly turns into a debate on Iraq?  We can not have one decent discussion in this forum without someone bashing Bush or Iraq.  It is rather disturbing.  Come on... Lighten up. [:)]

OK. We are fighting this war for Israel. WHY?

Besides, bashing fat girls is fun because the stick sinks in so satisfyingly, and bashing ugly girls is great cuz they have nothing to lose!

Or was that not PC?

Now that IS the 64K question. Clearly annihilation is OUT of the QUESTION, but why ISRAEL appears to be able to do no wrong....I simply dont know ! The Arabs have legitimate grievences in my opinion.
You've got to admit that they, the Israelis,  are a  well organised lot though !?

Since my ex is smarter than I and the majority of women I have been with have gone on to significant careers, my standards for intelligence is pretty high.

I call people stupid more often becuase of a lack of depth than a lack of inate intellectual abilities.  I call people idiots who whined and sniveled over a consensual relationship between adults which broke no law but strive to defend predatory child molesters and their protectors.  I call people idiots who have supported position after position over Iraq that have all ended up in the dustbin of history all while calling people like myself traitors for making the predictions of how would and as events have shown us did turn out.

I call people stupid who think that evolution is a controversial subject to scientists or that the fact that 1/3 of the ice on the planet has melted doesn't indicate climate change.

And they are for the most part stupid because I did date the brightest girl in class and always have.

Hello A/all,

Ignorance is curable, stupidity is forever.

You can lead a person to knowledge but you cannot make them think.

The only relationships in my life that lasted any length of time were with
intelligent and articulate women.

Just me, could be wrong, but there you go.

Never mind the female stuff,   I want to hear how big his dick is~how hard his pecs are~whether he has a washboard stomach and a tight booty~and most of all what his hugggggeeeee income is, how he can give me gifts jewels and whatever I want.  If all that is in place then I will submit to him, when its convienent to me, when I am not shopping, primping, preening, watching TV and eatting bon bons.

Oh YES! I often find it very difficult to have an intellectual arguement with a person ( often female ) who is emotionally close to me ( sometimes not even close ). They seem to equate a difference of opinion as a total judgement on them. I can vigorously argue with others and both of us take no offence or emotional distress. I can love someone, respect them in all ways, and still disagree and challenge them on certain things. But usually it does not reflect any judgement on them as a person I like. I hate it when a woman might actually say that I think she is stupid, just because we are debating on opposite sides. It makes it hard to discuss things. A very dull silence can happen and carry on for a long time. I just avoid bringing up things. This forces me to go elsewhere for mental stimulation. That is sad and frustrating.

I have very little I cannot talk to with the man in my life, he respects my opinions. There is only one time I have gotten tense in a conversation with him, and that was because I am militantly antiwar ( I am aware of the contradiction...smiles) and he is not. I do not even get tense over this anymore, because we have the same goal, just different approaches to solving it.

I do not want to be with someone that agrees with me all the time, never challenges me, and I like him having the veto power to tell me to shut my piehole.. I need someone who is able to do so around, so it might as well be him... and the beauty of that.. I never feel judged for it...

quote:

My assessment of someone being stupid has nothing to do with their level of agreement or disagreement with me.  I WISH it were that easy, I'd be able to ignore a lot of people I dislike and disagree with :)

Females unfortunately have a much higher tendency to equate agreement with liking and disagreement with disliking and that can cause a lot of strife in the communication process.

I have to agree with this. I have had this experience more than once.. I have noticed women tend to be consensus builders instead of debaters. I have the tendency towards consensus, but I also enjoy debate.. sometimes people take that to heart and personal when it is not about them.. it is about ideas. I do not know if it is a fundamental difference in the female brain or if it is socialization. Who knows, maybe we have misperceived this altogether... although I think that studies tend to show your observation to be true.

If I did not like people for disagreeing with me I would be a very lonely person...smiles. Anyways, I can separate a kooky opinion from the person who has it... I hope people will not think me stupid for my kooky opinions (although I do try to back them up with some kinda thought process).

Since when has the American Government cared about Islamic fundamentalism? It is not an issue.

Syria is a country where Christians enjoy religious freedom and in Saudi they do not. So, who does the US choose as an ally?

seeksfemslave -> RE: Thick/Thin, Hot/Not, Smart/Stupid (10/5/2006 12:08:53 AM)

Now not sure what this thread is really about but it strikes me as a quite rare for person A to be able to  tolerate fundamental  dissent / difference of opinion from person B and maintain a harmonious relationship together.

Men fequently concede for the sake of peace and quiet and not to limit their sex lives lol

Someone mentioned the magic words 20 and cute so I've toned the language down a touch in case I ever make it to Texas. A long shot I know but without optimism we're nothing.

ZenrageTheKeeper -> RE: Thick/Thin, Hot/Not, Smart/Stupid (10/5/2006 6:22:59 PM)

People have the right to be attracted to other people based on whatever criteria they may have as long as they don't make character judgements based on physical traits.

The only times it seems shallow is when people dont use enough language to describe their attractions.

For example:
Person A: Man, she has a huge rack. I'd love to suck on those tits.
Person B: Her mammaries swell with the generous beauty of the fullest moon in a starlit night. To suckle deeply upon her breasts would take a pleasureable eternity.

You see the difference?

I think to dispute the fact that Bush never gave WMD's as a reason for invading Iraq is not so much being an apologist but not living on the same planet as the rest of us.

If you think WMD's might have been found and Bush isn't telling us for some reason, you must really think he is thicker than he appears or that he is really really really smart and we will all find out when all the insurgents runaway.

I think it would be really difficult for Bush to be more obtuse and dense than he appears.

I believe he is trying his best, so I think he deserves a Brownie Point for effort.

As far as Bush living in the same world the rest of us are living in, if this is true, I am calling up the mother ship to beam me back up.

Just me, could be wrong, but there you go.
