Hi, first time poster, so be nice :)

Anyway, I have a relativly vanilla girlfriend that is extremely loud in bed. She cannot help it, or so she tells me. Anwyay, we have experimented with gags a number of times, and she enjoys them because shes always worried about getting caught. To Date, I have made makeshift layer gags out of ace bandages, socks and ties, but they often take a while to set up, and I am sort of looking for something a little quicker to apply, but still effective. She is a vanilla though, so a mask and other things like that would probably scare her, FYI.

and would that silicone gag work better than, say, a ballgag or ring gag? I couldnt see a Ring gag gagging someone all that much, but I think they are really good looking, so I figured I would put that in [:)]

Well the ring gag is more for oral type activities...not effective at silencing.

A lot of time the ball gags are uncomfortable and bad for the jaw in the long run.

Stick with panel/and/or plug type gags for comfort/silence purposes.

Silicone is the most healthy material for both gags and dildoes because its sanitised so easily.

Panel gag, I have heard this a few times. What exactly qualifies as a panel gag?

Usually it is a leather or vinyl covered panel that fits diretly over the mouth to block the wearer from muttering any sounds...with a strap (or two) encircling the head.

It can be plain.....or have a plug in it that fits in the sub/slaves mouth to keep them even more quiet.

they tend to be pricey though.

You should try the plug gag i recommended.

Its cheap,safe and sanitary.

If she is a real screamer...probably a very restrictive panel gag that covers the entire mouth would be your best bet

But they aren't on/off so easily

Suggest inflatable gag, once inserted she can inflate it to a comfortable size. Easy in and out. Very effective if it fills mouth cavity, will take some time to adjust too. Go slow and easy with one....good luck.

By the way, people, if you're gonna use panties, pantyhose, Hanes t-shirts, tennis balls, any of that shit--PLEASE remember that these things can be swallowed and the consequences can suck.  Gags with straps are usually safer because you don't have to worry that the sub's gonna choke on the ball or whatever.

I think the "panel gag" referred to here is also known as a Bishop gag. Straps go over the head in both directions and over the nose. The panel part is of course attached in the back and there is a chin strap.

I have one that has a plug of maybe 2½" or so, so it doesn't really "gag" you, but it can quiet you down quite a bit. It is also not so big that you can't swallow, which is important, saliva is produced all the time, and when one is flat (oe somewhat flat) on the back this can be important.

Mine was about $150 so don't expect it to be cheap.

Comment : You say it is because she is loud, and that is the only reason for the gag, no bondage proclivities. This would actually be mundane use of a bondage device. I am not quite sure I believe that, it might be that she is loud BECAUSE she wants to be gagged. You might want to order some cuffs too, and see how she responds to wearing them. Some people are very shy when it comes to their kinks, and being loud might be an offhand way of getting what she wants. After all, if you are boning the snot out of her she is giving you what you want, so you should give her what she wants. After shelling out $150 for a good gag, what's another $30 or so for some nice leather cuffs ?

One last thing, when you got her gagged keep an eye open. Or an ear. If she has trouble swallowing wearing it she could choke. If that happens get her rolled over immediately, and THEN take the gag off. You might have to forego your own pleasure for a minute. If not you may unintentionally become a necrophiliac.

The most simple and effective gag I know is Duct Tape. With or with out a Dommes panties stuffed in first, a 4"-6" strip will keep the most excited lips shut. Plus being it has been used in so many "kidnap" scenes on TV, using Duct Tape as a gag can seem as vanillia as an old police show on TV. Of course some Dommes like to feel their sub's screams and will use various parts of their body as a gag. This also is right there at the top of my list
