ORIGINAL: babygirl005 I don't smoke. Never have and never will. This is about freedom. Last I checked, cigarettes are legal. I think that curtailing freedom, even if it is something I am against, is more dangerous than any chance I may get a whiff of someone's cigarette smoke. But that is just me. Estring I completely agree that it is about freedom. People are free to smoke. I am free to breathe air without people's cigarette smoke in it. Alcohol is legal. I am free, by legal definition, to drive my car on a street where people are not driving drunk. The people in Santa Monica have decided that the smoking public is unwilling or unable to show common courtesy to non-smokers in their city, so they have passed laws to dictate where and when people can smoke to protect the rights and freedoms of non-smokers. They are similar in nature to laws about where and when people (or their dog) can have a bowel movement, urinate, throw their garbage away, etc. It puzzles me when people think that one form of spreading their garbage around should be illegal, whereas another form of spreading their garbage around is bad. Just me, could be wrong, but there you go. Sinergy
