julia....I think that we just have to agree to disagree. Not one time have I tried to control the content of yours or anyone else's posts. I gave my personal opinion on a specific behavior. I didn't say DON'T do it. I didn't say STOP doing it. I'm not sticking up for a friend, just because it was primarily directed at twicehappy it doesn't change my opinion on the behavior any more than it would if it had been you or anyone else here.

Well if I have mischaracterized you I apologize. I am not sniping at you Erin, if I were I would be doing it covertly on other threads. I am an Arian through and through... I am just a direct person and that offends people on the internet moreso than in the real world... if you could hear my words it would take the sting from them... like Sinergy... he hears my opinionated judgmental ass on a daily basis... but my tone tends to take the sting out. I am defensive over people I love and care for, and underdogs, and small children, and anyone else that I find to be belittled in some way that cannot defend themselves, so I understand your stance.

My comments that you quoted were not about anyone's thread, nor were they it to tell anyone how to post, what to think, etc. They were just lil ol' me, expressing a point of view that I think mockery is unnecessary and silly. And that I think the way "twue" is tossed around happens to be mockery. You write lots of things I disagree with, Julia, and you also write lots of things I do agree with. I do not believe I have ever suggested you ought not to express yourself. As for slapping anyone on the back and deriding others - Erin will be the first to tell you that she and I have had some pretty ugly exchanges on this board. I happened to agree with her point of view here, and so I told her that. When I like what someone has to say, I tend to express it, because I think kind words are a good thing. When I don't like what someone says, more often than not, I say nothing, because it only perpetuates argument, and I'd rather not go there. It was not my intention to deride anyone by stating my thoughts about a word. I did not single anyone out, nor did I imply anyone when I made the comment. If someone disagrees with my point of view, they are of course free to express it. But to take a general comment of mine personal, unless I expressly named someone, would be a mistake.

If your sense of humor is that developed, then go share it there and leave the more serious conversations for those of us who are looking for that. Yes the internet gives people the power they lack in real life...but it also robs from that ability to communicate in real life, because all they know is the internet...They do not learn to deal with people face to face.

When that happens, it doesn't surprise me that other children (or inner children) come out to see what the commotion is all about and start to play as well. The word 'twue' is used to mock particular OP's.. and I think it's because people don't want to come out and say.. "Hey, you're a fucking idiot who is clueless and how dare you come in HERE just because you're a flake who doesn't have the wit to get yourself a partner on the other side! When you say that everyone is a fake, you are including ME in that description, fuckwad, and I'm NOT A FAKE!" That shit gets ya TOS'd into the cooler by the Mods. So, instead some use the word 'twue' to get that point across. It is the same point, however, just couched on the level of most of the original OP's who start threads regarding 'true' and 'real' life dominance and submission. The sad thing is, most of those folks aren't going to get it and would be much better served to be blasted with the 'true' reaction of coming into a place and calling the whole kit n caboodle of collective posters fakes, liars and wannabes instead of posting it to their own journal on the other side. Then again, how often do those folks come back and post again after putting not just their foot, but their whole leg into their mouth. Imagine going into a biker bar wearing a letterman's sweater and dockers and calling all the Hell's Angels a bunch of sissy's. ::chuckles:: It's sort of the same thing, only here the blood left on the floor is virtual in nature. ::chuckles:: The clueless - come here seeking empathy or sympathy to their plight, but the first thing which happens is they discard the entire group to whom they have addressed their vent because the first words from them are YOU ARE NOT REAL! ONLY I AM REAL! Then blah, blah, blah, whine, whine, whine .. and the pokes and prods start, one thing leads to another and pretty soon you have 10 pages of back and forth over the words real and true between a lot of regs and the OP has already deleted their profile and started a new one. It's an amazing process to witness actually and no doubt we'll continue to witness it again and again. How often have we had an OP who opened up blasting everyone come back and say.. "Hey, maybe I made a mistake. Maybe I was wrong." In every single thread, there are going to be people who give serious feedback no matter how obtuse the OP seems .. and those are almost always ignored because the OP has an agenda and being given constructive criticisms isn't part of that agenda. Most come in to be coddled and when you're dealing with the whips and chains gang it's not the smartest move to make. Best to learn that early on, develop a thick skin.. that way when you go to play with a 'real' and 'true' sadist, you can take the beating from it. [:D] Celeste

Maybe it's the medium of the internet that makes it seem more acceptable to some....for I surely can not envision being at a real time munch and having some newbie come in and state some misguided opinion about what they think or have been told this should be about and have all of the regulars drop into their best Elmer Fudd voice and say "Awww...youw not twue....nanny nanny boo boo!". But the scenarios you presented are not what inspired me to post. What insipired me was a thread made my a regular poster who never once stated they were more true or more real...or that their way was the only way...only to be confronted by two entire pages of "twue"ery coming from other regular posters that ultimately had to be deleted by the Moderators.....and the gutless, chickenshit behavior of one poster who went so far as to hide behind the anonimity of a sockpuppet id "theTwuestofthetwue" to slam the OP.

I missed that thread (most likely a good thing) but I did see it mentioned in one of the other posts on this thread. For that sort of chicanery, I would have to agree that such seems pretty gutless, but then I have no trouble owning my words and it would not dawn on me to fake an ID for the purpose of trying to prove a point in such a childish manner. If I believe it, I'll say it and with my own name. I'd rather get moderated than have to hide. If I am so ashamed of something I want to say, seems to me, I'm better off not saying it at all. I yield the point at it pertains to that case, but do believe the majority of OP's come in with a different agenda so stand firm on my post on the subject as a whole. Celeste
