My question is, when the show lets us learn that she's doing kinky things with him, will they show her wearing some fetish gear, show her with a paddle or some other instrument of torture in her hand? And will we hear a "SMACK!" on air?
I didn't see the previous episode, but on tonight's episode, Bree and Rex have reconciled, Rex has told Bree that he wants her to dominate him in bed, Bree has said she's open to it. Then they watched a BDSM video together. Did anyone else who saw this episode think the video sounded kind of lame? I can't put my finger on it, but it sounded that way to me.
They talked about having a safe word (but they didn't call it that). Bree objected to "Philadelphia" as a safe word because it's where an aunt of hers lives; Rex objected to her suggestion of "Boise" because it would ruin the "serious" atmosphere of the play he likes. Come to think of it, I agree with Rex. I think at some point, they mentioned spanking, but I forget whether Rex actually asked for it or she mentioned it. I think there are lots humorous possibilities of spanking, so I think that's what they'll do. Rex in panties or a diaper may also happen, but I think it'll just be spanking -- just a feeling I have. (Incidentally, in scenes-from-our-next-episode for one of the weeknight Law & Order shows, they pictured a guy who likes to be treated as a baby. he was running around in diapers at home. I think he's a suspect in a murder.)
Bree then asked Rex where they should start. Rex asked her to handcuff him to the bedpost. She then countered by asking if she could put the handcuffs through the washing machine first. Scene ends. Later on, there's a snippet with her opening up the dishwasher and the handcuffs are hanging from the top rack (the camera shot has us looking out from the dishwasher at Bree on the other side of the handcuffs -- I thought that was pretty good). And that's where it ends.
So, barring a crazy plot twist (entirely possible with this show), I'm 99 percent certain that Bree's gonna be topping Rex. I'm willing to bet that we'll here "SMACK!" as she spanks him, and some kind of grunt or other verbal reaction from him. I think she'll use either her hand or a hairbrush.
Sandy (EStrict) thinks the show will not in any way show BDSM in a positive light, but I'm not so sure. In this episode, Bree tells Rex his mother must have screwed up his psyche (a line played for laughs) and he immediately responds that that wasn't the case at all and that this is something he just must do (his lines were not played for laughs, although you didn't hear sappy "this-is-serious-viewer-you-must-sympathize-with-this-poor-soul" music in the background either). The show is a comedy, but it's also meant to be risquee/salacious/naughty to a small degree, so I think that while they play it for laughs, they won't put down BDSM in any really serious way. I think viewers will end up with a slightly more open attitude.
