I only drink once in a very great while and my favorite is a margarita on the rocks and the glass rim well salted.

Beer: Ice cold Yuenglings Lager or if counting calories a Bud Light.
Wine:  Any dry red Italian table wine.
or a shot of tequila, no salt with a lime.

endorphinhussy -> RE: What's Your Favorite Alcoholic Beverage? (10/14/2006 5:17:10 AM)

Without a doubt, vintage port... Taylor Fladgate
Also a sweet little white called Conundrum (what a great name too, and it lives up to it)
And... nothing tops a good night like Grand Marnier - neat, or over ice cream (even better if it's the 150 yr old bottle)

cheers!

KatyLied -> RE: What's Your Favorite Alcoholic Beverage? (10/14/2006 8:49:49 AM)

Rum & Pepsi with a big twist of lime
Amaretto Sour
Mojito

My preference is rum-based cocktails.
I don't like beer, and wine is okay, but not my favorite drink

JerseyKrissi72 -> RE: What's Your Favorite Alcoholic Beverage? (10/14/2006 12:19:58 PM)

just a simple jack and coke ...or rum and coke...[:)]

Rumtiger -> RE: What's Your Favorite Alcoholic Beverage? (10/14/2006 1:02:50 PM)

Zacapa from Guatamala on the rocks, thats rum by the way.

Or a Honeybrown with a shot of Makers Mark...X 5

Thats what I go for if i'm drinking just to drink, but with food then it changes around a bit.

zumala -> RE: What's Your Favorite Alcoholic Beverage? (10/14/2006 1:53:38 PM)

Right now... I'd say mead.

Of course, I like a lot of other things as well.  Many mixed drinks, both cold and hot (coffee types) are appreciated.  White and blush wines.

I'm still trying new things. [:D]

Do I have to pick one?

I can't.

For straight alcohol:   I'm on a bourbon and rye exploration right now (Merc -- you like Oban?  Try Rittenhouse Rye, for a similar complex taste, no peat of course and a bit more sugar).  So my favorite would be Woodford Reserve (bourbon) and Rittenhouse Rye (rye, obviously) but I won't say "no" to Maker's Mark either.

Vodka -- I love Three Olives.  Its incredibly smooth, wheat based, makes a great vodka martini

Scotch -- I like too many, but give me Oban, Lagavullin or (my current favorite) Glen Farklas cask strength.  mmmmmmmmmm

I love you.  You at least say VODKA martina.  I'm sick to death of philistines who think a 'real' martini is vodka based.

I stopped drinking martinis outside of the house due to suckass bartenders who will grab the vodka when I ask for a martini.  Then again,  seems the majority of slack-ass bartenders use vodka in gimlets as well now.  BLASPHEMY!

SlaveAkasha -> RE: What's Your Favorite Alcoholic Beverage? (10/14/2006 2:15:32 PM)

This thread is really making me want to go out with friends.

I'm thinking a jazz club, with a very, very dry martini... mmm... that brings back some memories.

MsKatHouston -> RE: What's Your Favorite Alcoholic Beverage? (10/14/2006 2:15:49 PM)

LOL awww...let's discuss this over a martini ;)

Daddysredhead -> RE: What's Your Favorite Alcoholic Beverage? (10/14/2006 2:19:21 PM)

Strawberry Margarita on the rocks, no salt.

RazorJAK -> RE: What's Your Favorite Alcoholic Beverage? (10/14/2006 2:19:46 PM)

Note - I had to edit my reply :-)

And yes,  that'd be fine.  I can deal with vodka martinis if the company I am with is as dirty as the martini. ;-)

MistressCamille -> RE: What's Your Favorite Alcoholic Beverage? (10/14/2006 2:25:01 PM)

A Margarita or a spiced rum and fruit juices.

RazorJAK -> RE: What's Your Favorite Alcoholic Beverage? (10/14/2006 2:27:53 PM)

My drink of choice depends on my location ...

When I am working a nightclub,  my drink of choice is known as JAK's Surprise.  It looks like a cosmopolitan.  But definately doesn't taste like one.  It's made of clementine vodka,  tonic & campari.  The surprise comes from when lil club girlies ask for a sip of my drink.  I love the look on their face when it hits their tastebuds.  Expecting something sweet as a cosmo but getting washed in something akin to unsweetended grapefruit juice.  Now THAT is priceless.

When at a convention,  I'm usually drinking straight rum (preferably a black seal or,  when I can get it,  Bundy Rum from australia) or agwa ( herbal made from fermented guarana berries and coca leaf extract ).

At home or the rare times I go to bars when I am not on the clock,  stout.  If the place doesn't have stout then I will drink an IPA in a pinch.  Failing that,  Red Stripe.

When I am taking a bath after a long shift,  a dirty martini (real martini - not vodka) with double olive (either stuffed with bleu cheese or habenaro)

... I brew mead.  I just don't drink it often.
