What pre tell are normal parameters? Do you know? I do. I know that the test in the pacific is a huge achievment in the science of BMD(for those of you who are unfamiliar with that term it means Ballistic Missile Defence) Shooting down a missile is a little bit more complicated that shooting down an airplane. The missile is alot smaller, moves faster, and is much harder to detect.  And if you think North Korea poses no threat, you are foolish. N Korea poses a direct threat to several of our allies in the region, Japan and S Korea for example.  The only ignorant one here is you.

Republican politicians are so stupid they still think the trickle down theory will improve the economy. Giving big corporations big tax breaks creates jobs overseas or jobs for immigrants, not the American people. We need to forget Iraq and start worrying about our economy. Terrorism is an unfortunate reality of life that is too widespread to ever be fully contained.

In my absentee ballot this year(one of the ones the democrats tried not to count the previous few elections) I voted for some republicans, some democrats and some third party. I voted based on their positions, their record and their agenda as well as their opponents, sometimes I vote based on who I dont want in office more.  That's what I did in 2004, I thought that Kerry would do a worse job than Bush, and you know what? so did most of the country.  If bush messed up so bad, why did he win..again

philosophy -> RE: We owe these brave people something... (10/18/2006 9:02:06 AM)

"If bush messed up so bad, why did he win..again"

.....a question asked by a great deal of people.......on both sides of the political fence. However, Thatcher did much the same in the UK following the Falklands conflict, a war believed by many nowadays to have been engineered for political effect.......of course that wouldn't happen in the US, would it.......

Actually, the reason Bush won again like Thatcher, is probably to do with the crap election systems in both countries which are very similar. You basically have a choice of two parties and you choose the one you dislike least or not to vote at all. Both the US and Britain have a high amount of abstensions and the election system is probably the reason. In a system where your vote isn't wasted if you vote for a third or fourth party, more people would probably vote and no party would proably get to be a dictatorship until the next election.

CrappyDom -> RE: We owe these brave people something... (10/18/2006 9:59:37 AM)

cleaver, the problem with the system is we have voters so dumb they can watch fox and not scream at the blatant propaganda.

We have voters who believe someone who tells them we can go massively into debt AND lower taxes and that is a GOOD thing.

No amount of parties is going to fix that, stupid people elect stupid politicians.

CrappyDom -> RE: We owe these brave people something... (10/18/2006 10:03:16 AM)

DDG,

I wouldn't trade my "ignorance" for your "wisdom" for all the money in the world.  Your "wisdom" believe the Bush administration when they testified that Iraq had no history of ethnic violence, could pay for its own reconstruction, and they would greet us with flowers.

The only thing I didn't see coming was how insanely incompetent the administration would be.  I thought that Iran would end up the dominant power but only by accident, looks like Baker is going to suggest we split the country and GIVE the oil rich areas to Iran.

So no thanks, I will prefer my ignorance because even your hindsight doesn't seem to be 20/20 whereas my foresight is pretty close.

Hot damn, I actually agree with you about something!

The auto industry is a fine example of what you're talking about.  Employees wanted higher wages while the rest of us wanted to pay less for cars.  It is perplexing to me to see people driving around in Hondas while sporting an American Flag bumper sticker.

Would this be a Honda made at American Honda's factory in Georgia or Alabama?

Seems more patriotic to me to buy one of those, than a Chevy or Ford made in Indonesia or Mexico or wherever.

In the days of Globalization, what nationality a company claims it is has little relation to where the product is made.  After NAFTA passed, a huge number of US industries fled south of the border to take advantage of cheap labor rates.

They have been moving back north of the border because along with cheap labor rates they got a largely unskilled and uneducated work force.  So their defect rate skyrocketted and people started to become disenamored with their products.

One of the reasons Honda and Toyota and Nissan have done so well is the Japanese interpretation of the term "defect rate."  Japanese manufacturers allowed a 1% defect rate to mean that out of one hundred cars, one will have a defective part.  American manufacturers interpreted a 1% defect rate to mean that out of every 100 parts in a car, one will be defective.  Over time, people became disenchanged with the quality of American cars.  Then somebody at GM had a bright idea a few years ago, "why dont we build cars to the same standards as you would find in an Acura or a Lexus?"

To avoid being painted with a historical brush stroke, they named their company Saturn.  Additionally, you go to a Saturn dealer, they tell you how much the car costs.  You pay them the amount it costs and drive away.

I miss my old Saturn, but after it died with 200k miles on it, I was not in a position to buy a new one.  The next car I buy will probably be their sub-compact SUV thingie (has to be big enough to carry my armor suit), or if they make a truck...

Just me, could be wrong, but there you go.

Too bad they were not brave enough to stand up and say "This is WRONG and I won't go."  That takes true courage that few have these days.

There are plenty of our military MOS who believe we should be there, and some countrymen and women who believe that as well.

What happens when a ballistic missile goes off is the rocket fires it up into what is essentially outer space, then detaches and the warhead / payload, (goes ballistic) and flies along under it's own kinetic energy on a curving drop at the target.  It has a little control after it goes ballistic.

It also does not give off heat signatures which can be picked up, and is moving so fast that it is difficult to hit with a radar guided anti-ballistic missile fired from the ground.

On a positive note, China does not possess the amounts and sorts of nuclear missiles the Soviet Union did, and most of the ones they possess are not intended to go ballistic.

I dont think North Korea poses much of a threat because if they started trouble on the Korean peninsula or attacked Japan, the United States would make them an ex-country unless China stepped in.

If China stepped in they would lose their trade with North America and Europe, and their economy would collapse.

China paid close (and rapt) attention to how we defeated Iraq so handily, and came to the realization that their military was sorely out of date compared to the US.  Now they are vigorously trying to steal as much of our technology as they possibly can so they can upgrade their military.

Putting all of this together, China does not want to go to war with the United States.  Probably ever.  China will tell Kim Jong Il to mind his manners and prevent him from doing anything, in much the same way that Clinton framed it to Kim Jong Il.  "If you fire a missile at South Korea or Japan you will have an ex-country."

The reason the current administration is spending so much of their time stirring up the fear and paranoia of their constituency is to try to take the heat off the scandals they are embroiled in.

It's called a Vue, and I'm looking at one to buy next year, hopefully. It's as close as you'll get to a twue American built vehicle, is reasonably priced ($20,000), is good quality, and gets 27-33 mpg.

Go to autos at msn to see plenty of pics and get some info.

DDG,

Thanks for once again proving Republicans are in general too ignorant to be allowed to vote let alone hold office.

Since the missle test you speak of didn't follow the paramenters of a normal incoming missle, the test is meaningless and its only intent was to fool Republicans and you have just proved that part worked just fine.

As for a nuclear north korea, you can quack in fear all you want but they are not a threat to us.  They want those nukes for protection of the regime, a regime would would evaporate 10 minutes after they launched a missle at the US.

Sorry but you boys elected the United States worst president ever who has done more damage to our national security than every lie you tell about Democrats combined, except in this case the damage is very very real.

Lucky for us, the impeachments will begin later next year and perhaps the trials for treason some time after.  We will expose how Republican economic ideas made Iraq's economy worse, how they made their decisions based not on what is best for America but what made them  richer, and of course how they lied to America about the need to go to war.

I really really look forward to the bloodbath as the corruption is exposed, not just simple lining of pockets but the systematic looting of America's future.

CrappyDom,

Wonderful post.  You might be able to find Random Lengths online if you look for it.  There was a reprinted article called "25 reasons to Impeach The President" which listed not only what he did, but the legal statute he violated.

If he had half a brain (he doesnt) he would step down and let Shotgun pardon him.

But the man truly believes his feces is not aromatic in nature.

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. claims the election was stolen in states that allowed companies like Diebold to install computerized voting machines.

He makes a very cogent and cohesive argument for it.

I am so happy I dont live in Dumbfuckistan and our state refuses to go digital with our voting.

Of course you both know the Vue is a 'chick' SUV right?

(sorry, some crazy bitch in one of those things got all road-ragey on me yesterday morning, high beams in the rear view, sreaming at me from alongside, all because I made sure an 18-wheeler had the room he needed to merge.  From what I could tell putting some distance between us, the Vue doesn't handle nearly as well as a Subaru wagon.)
