Well, first of all the very idea of owning a cat.........I don't think so! Cats agree to share an abode with you. In return for their presence you agree to feed them, pet them, provide adequate sleeping quarters......etc etc etc. If you are lucky you might get rodent body parts as gifts.

Secondly, I find that I do not adore all cats. Most female cats are too sneaky and tend to be a bit more prone to shitting in places they shouldn't. Any cat I have ever had around that I really liked was a neutered male cat. There is currently one such creature residing here on the farm that seems to think he is a much improved, more evolved, version of a canine.

I don't know why, but I just got the giggles all over the place when I read that coming from you.

As for me, I have a one year old cat named Chloe.  She is a funny girl and is indoor only.  Her best fur friend was my 100 pound German Shepherd, who went to live with my ex when I moved to an apt. last month.  I always kind of loved the fact that when I brought Chloe home, at the size of a sub roll, she turned into a black puffball when my dog sniffed at her and the dog just walked away.  I still think the cat believes she is part dog.

I have one cat...she was one of two that were brother/sister barn cats I got when they were about 6mos old. The male died suddenly about 5 yrs ago....she is still doing great and going on 13.
I'd heard horror stories about barn cats but both of these cats were the best I've ever had right from the get go. Never once shit...peed.... or clawed up anything inside. Don't jump up on anything except her chair. The male cat found out real early that the wood stove isn't something you want to jump up on....lmao! Poor little guy....I do miss him......he was my shadow.
anyways...I'm a cat person..not too hot on dogs

I have one cat.  I know there are some people who think it is un-macho for a man to own a cat but I disagree.  Cats are second only to women in being the most amazing, most fascinating, creatures on the planet.  You just got to admire that aloof attitude, spirit of independence and wiley intelligence.  Thats how I got my cat.  He was a stray who just showed up at my door one day and "announced" that he was moving in.  Dogs are cool, too but I wouldn't want to own one.  Unlike cats, dogs have to be walked when they have to "do their duty," whether you want to go out or not.  I'll not have my schedual dictated to me by the bowel movements of an animal.

I live with two cats, Otis and Daisy. I don't own them. Our relationships have been discussed in these forums. Indeed, it is thanks to the CM message boards that the entire world joins in the joyous annual celebration of Otis & Daisy Day (formerly Daisy Day) on July 27. I have pictures of the lil cuties on my profile.

None, I am not a cat person at all.  I used to like them when we lived out in the country and they would come up to the house and want petted, or fed..that was fine.  I guess it's the litterbox smell, the furballs coughed up in my living room floor,  the curtains clawed up, and coming in and finding a cat standing on my kitchen counter that I don't miss at all.

They are nice, but only outside as far as I am concerned.  To each their own though, I have three dogs that I adore, and some can't stand dogs.

I have one, a five year old male named Niles. I got him and the rental of a broken town mobile home from a midwifery client.  Those were my "Walden Pond meets white trash days."

Niles is very virgo-like, in that he doesn't need a whole lot, but is very friendly, empathetic and down to earth.  When we go to sleep at night, he throws his 12 pound weight against the backs of my knees and settles in.  When he wants to be petted, he head-butts you.

I love the little guy intemperately.

I have three that live with me and then my Lord and alandra have two that live with them.

In my house, I have two girls that are both 6, one is all black and the other is a grey tortie.  The black one is the boss!!  Then I have a 4 year old male siamese, seal point.  I found him and his litter mates abandoned in a horse barn.  My cousin kept the girls and I took the boy.  I have nursed him from a 3 week old kitten who fit in the palm of my hand.  Now he stands about knee high to me and is about 2 feet long from head to base of tail and weighs about 16 lbs.  When he meows he has the same whiney voice as Edith on Archie Bunker.  Their names are Shadow, Pretty and Loki (obviously the siamese is named appropiately because he is full of mischief!)

In my Lord and alandra's house are two kittens both less than a year old.  Angel is not named correctly because she is full of the devil.  Then there is Puffy who was named by the little ones because of her puffy tail.

I don't own a cat or any pets, but every couple of months, or so, I cat-sit for a friend.  She drops Tibby off for about a week when she has to go out of town.  I'm more of a dog person, but I like cats too and I just love Tibbythe big fuz ball.

I have always been a diehard dog person - didn't get the cat thing at all.

Until I accidentally acquired one - or she acquired me actually. My wonderful dog Sunshine was 15, and blind, and unsteady on his feet, and his doggie friends were too rough and knocked him over, etc. A black cat showed up at the door, and instantly fell in love with Sunshine. They slept together, Buffy gave him baths, they snuggled, they were best friends. She was the perfect companion for Sunshine in his last year.

Then Spike showed up, then Wesley, the Teeny, and most recently Millie. Err. you need to have at least 10 to be a crazy cat lady right?

I've owned cats and dogs in the past and as long as they are loving I like having them around. Right now I am pet free and my subbie is my little kitty, purring and rubbing against me :P

I have four indoor cats and one outdoor feral cat I named and leave food for ( I also made him a shelter)

The first two cats-brother and sister Angel and Puffy were my husbands idea of grief managment *s* My cat of 13 years had died the day previous and he hated to see me  sad so he went to the local animal shelter and got these two kittens that were on their way to the kitty version of the green mile and brought them home to me. That was  7 years ago. Puffy is a gorgeous orange tabby but he is about as smart as a turnip, lol he has been known to walk into walls. And Angel will only sit and snuggle with two people, Rob and Knight lol  finiky cat!
Mouse is part siamese- part something. We rescued him in Calgary after witnessing someone throw a bag of garbage out of their car, we both thought it was a really weird thing to do so we went back to have a look and were horrifed to see it was a bag of kittens. Only mouse survived. He has the vocal characteristics of a Siamese, he loves to follow me around the house 'chatting' away.
Otho's is one of our newest additions. He is a ragdoll that was living feral in the back of our acreage, I had spotted him once or twice and starting leaving food out. He was a mess, his long fur one giant mat and another animal had mauled him  badly .  I was able to trap him and take him to the vet. After sewing his ear back on  and shaving him (oh he was a cranky boy!!) he is deaf and blind in one eye but loves everyone that he see's and feels  that if you sit down your lap is his!
Mischa is a calico that is just too feral to even conisder turning into a housecat. That and I think Rob would kill me if I brought another one in to go along with the dog and the rabbit *S*   we made a shelter for the winter in our wood shed for her.

There is also a fox I named and have been feeding *s*

one kitty, she's 15, and still quite youthful, though i did finally have to build her a stepping platform to get onto the bed to sleep with me.

As has already been said, one does not own cats but, I am 'on staff' for two.  A female Maine Coon and a male 'domestic medium hair' who is big enough to not get pushed around by her.

I have one, I named him Charley after the hurricane that hit FL.
He has so much personality, I have never loved an animal as much as I love Charley.
He knows this too.
