I have one cat that I have owned for 5 years that wandered up having lost her litter. her nipples were so swollen from milk she felt like she was still pregnant, she was feverish, and she was so weak she was falling over. Her hair was falling out. She was quite an ugly wretched little scaredy cat, but my heart went out to her. I fed her table scraps, then bought her food. I did not know what to do with her so I kept her.

She is simply "kitty" and she is a sweet little thing

I liked the pets we had around when I was a kid (one cat, 3 dogs total over 15year span).    I  Don't much like cats now, and know I will have to break down and get a dog for the lil one at some point, unless I can influence him to forget about it and play with his cousins instead.    M

cats are the greatest, I wish I was allowed to have pets in my apt....
so the poll is defectively set up, it should have a choice for "zero at present, but they're still tops"

3 cats, 2 female & 1 male, who is trying to hump one of the females (his sister) despite the fact that he is fixed....give him points for stick-to-it-ivness.

i had three until my move when i lost my best buddy Boots.  He was so cool. He looked like he was wearing a tux because of his fluffy black hair with perfect white markings. He got loose and came back once so when he got loose the second time i didn't worry too much, but it has been a week now and he's not back yet soooo...
But i still have my 2-yr-old brothers Casper and Calvin.  Unfortunately Casper was hit by a car about a month ago. He's such a brute though (a whopping 20 lbs.)...not even one broken bone...just a gnarly scab on his head and a droopy ear. But he's my cuddlebug and he talks to me all the time. Calvin's my nighttime pest. He likes to get in your face while your sleeping but i always wake up with him on my pillow behind my head so i'm cool with it...lol.

Well, first of all the very idea of owning a cat.........I don't think so! Cats agree to share an abode with you. In return for their presence you agree to feed them, pet them, provide adequate sleeping quarters......etc etc etc. If you are lucky you might get rodent body parts as gifts.

Lol, i get wasps and moths, though once i got a bat.

Here are some cat quotes for everybody to enjoy.

"Cats know how to obtain food without labor, shelter without confinement and love without penalties."

"As anyone who has ever been around a cat for any length of time well knows, cats have enormous patience with the limitations of the human mind."

"There are many intelligent species in the universe. They are all owned by cats." –

"You can keep a dog; but it is the cat who keeps people, because cats find humans useful domestic animals."-

"God has created the cat to give man the pleasure of caressing the tiger"

I have 3.

Two were rescued. They were actually on there way in to be put down when I adopted them. It was going to be a long holiday weekend and the animal shelter didn't want to have to deal with them over the weekend. They were the only two kitten/cats that were there at the time. They are now three. One is a long haired black who is HUGE. He is not fat but weighs in at 21 pounds. Biggest paws i've ever seen on a cat. (I call him smoke...when he was a kitten he used to streak down the hallway like a puff of smoke.) The other is a long haired calico. No white on her at all. She's a tiny thing that has this thing about boxes and blankets...always has to be under them. Named her skittles.

The third my youngest brought in one morning coming home from a party. He said a cat ran out into the middle of the road and was hit. She crawled to the edge of the road and a kitten ran out after her. Son stopped to see if the cat was still alive but she wasn't. So he picked the kitten up and brought him home. He's been with us for 2 years now. Hellion I swear. Afraid of nothing, attacks everything, and generally rules the house. He has this thing for crackers. Loves to attack them if they are in a bag. So I named him crackers.=P

Can't picture my life without them in it. =]

I have 1 3/4 - 2 1/2 cats depending how you measure.

One cat is fat, so that would make 2 1/2; however, the fat one acts like he is 1/2 dog, so that takes it down to 1 3/4.

nope. no way. not for me. although i opted for the 'i only like certain cats' choice as my housemate does, on occasion, foster kittens for her work and it is fun to help wean them and watch their first steps. i am definitely a dog person though. a friend's cat decided to wake me up at 5 am one time by relentlessly scratching at my head. needless to say i was not impressed.

I have 7 cats.

I had had 2 cats, an all black petite female and a mostly gray female who had had spinal injury.  Lady lived for 3 years before passing away from congestive heart failure, and a friend of mine became suicidal over her loss.  We had shared custody of the cat.  Anyway, Angel was grieving and lost and so was Steve, so I went to the no kill cat shelter to adopt another kitten...supposedly for Angel but really for Steve...and ended up coming home with two.  I ended up keeping both because when Steve finally got on SSI and could get a place of his own, he didn't want to separate the cats.  The new additions were both all black.  *I ran over a black kitten one night years before; it had been sleeping in the road in the rain and I didn't know until the last second that it wasn't road debris, when suddenly it looked up at me.  Left me with a soft protective spot for black kitties.*

Trouble had been a kitten trapped from a stable feral cat colony.  She's a spooky little girl who earns her name, and it's taken years to earn her trust.  She's the one who saved the day with Steve, because when I tossed her at him and told him to hold her for me, she hung on to him for dear life while staring into his eyes and we'd like to have never gotten her off of him.  Just what I'd hoped she'd do; she saved his life.  She adores my son in a worshipful way, will stand up on her hind legs to beg for ham (she goes bonkers over ham, and when she talks for it, her voice sounds like she's meowing "haaaam").  Others have fattened up on the dry catfood but Trouble stays slim.  Btw, she's well named...when something goes CRASH, you can bet it's likely Trouble.  I have cereal boxes and things above the refrigerator that Trouble likes to knock down.  Crash sounds doesn't faze her in the slightest...she sits calmly and waits for her minions to pick up after her, lol.

Salem was 7 months old when I adopted him.  He'd been an orphaned, bottle fed baby who had grown up with no discipline from mommy, so it took a while to train him (I pinned his head down to the floor or bed for half a minute) not to bite and shred my hands/arms when he was feeling playful.  He can take a lot of pain and can't understand why the other cats can't...he's definitely a sadomasochist   He's my sweet little baby.  He enjoys going belly up with all 4 paws in the air to have his tummy rubbed...and we've taught him to answer when we say, "Speak."

Then came the two McDowell County floods, and we had to move into a FEMA trailer for a year.  I picked up Grizzley Bear when I was donating food and supplies at the pound in the next county.  He'd been raised with a dog and his people had moved here from Virginia and they couldn't find an apartment that allowed pets.  He is HUGE, btw, and all black with green eyes.  Anyway, he'd bitten everyone who worked there, through thick leather gloves even, and they were planning on putting him down as soon as the one who does the killing shots came back from vacation.  After visiting him for a week and a half, driving an hour there and an hour back, I took him home.  He had no idea how to be a cat, lol, was in ecstasy when he saw an animal sweater or a leash and would run for the door and sit and wait to be dressed up and have a leash put on.  He had been neutered and declawed already so it took me 4 1/2 years before I relented enough to allow him outside in my yard, after we moved from the trailer into a house, without a leash.  He keeps all the dogs and tom cats out of my yard, but allows refuge to some helpless looking females.

While at the FEMA trailer, soon after adopting Griz, someone dropped off 3 sick kittens.  I didn't want to take them in, as I didn't have the money for having them tested for feline leukemia virus (and I really didn't want more than 4 cats) they all had feline herpes, bacterial eye infections, and one had a bot fly larvae burrowed in his neck (huge volcano like ugly thing, someone's brother gently dug it out with his knife thank goodness).  I fed them, left water and shelter and used leftover meds on them, saved up money and took them to the vet for testing and neutering or spaying and declawing.  Winter was getting rough and I had to do this to adopt them into my home.  All 3 are part siamese, but the two boys are orange and white, and only the little sister shows the markings.  Cyrano has the long elegant bone structure and the mouth that won't quit, his brother Valiant is more quiet with a Clint Eastwood type stare and attitude, and Marie loves to perch on shoulders *can you say OUCH?* and balance on the top of door frames.

I have 3 litter boxes and can't handle owning any more cats. Period.  That possum that raids my trash and seeks shelter behind the compost bin (old deep freezer) outside my kitchen door isn't a pet, though I feed it cat food.  Hey, it's skinny and looks starved.

My cats had pet mice for years...kitty tv...but they kept cracking the cages open and eating the actors.  My son wants another rodent, but I hope we find a masochist who can handle being stared at real hard by 7 sadistic cats.

<Fast Reply>

I have a Male kitty (neutered) named Dylan who is a Russian blue. He is three years old. I have had him since he was 8 wks old.

I have a calico female (soon to be spayed) named Mickey (because she squeaks like a mouse) who is only 5 weeks old.

They both are adorable in their own way and have pretty much managed to own the house.

Two cats have graciously allowed me to care for them in a style to which they could become accustomed.  The little furballs are Mikayla who is 7. She's a spayed, medium-haired grey cat with amber colored eyes and a sweet disposition. She's affectionate on her own terms though. Not a big snuggler, but very affectionate when she wants to be.  She was adopted from a guy I was dating almost 3 years ago. He was moving and wasn't able to take her with him, so I offered to take her.  She and I have grown very close in the past few years.  :)

The second is Oscar, named after my favorite author, Oscar Wilde.  He's about 6 months old, all black with short fur and amber eyes.  He looks like a Halloween cat.  He's a holy terror and his favorite pasttime is pouncing Mikayla.  He is extremely affectionate and has been known to spend hours on the back of my chair hanging over my left shoulder while I'm on the computer.  He loves to be snuggled and he loves kisses.  One of his other favorite pasttimes is biting and clawing me.  He'll be getting neutered soon which will hopefully mellow him out a bit.  I didn't want to do it too early because I was  worried about being  stuck with a perpetual kitten.

Both kitties love my One and he loves them also.  He's "Daddy" to them and is basically the only man that Oscar has known.  In a sense, my One has three kitties.  :)

We have two cats that are actually outdoor cats  ( I actually have a cat door on my house so they can come and go as they please )

As to what kind they are, I could not tell you. I found them both outside when they were only a couple weeks old.

I'm "owned" by a cat called Accrocat a black and white European male of 4 years now. He is as wide as long or almost ( he needs diet) and he is nice with my companion/master all the time and a pain in the ass with me most of the time (running everywhere to bite and  scratch me) Beside of that he is a pervert like jis "owners" and masturbate on the blanket where my boyfriend is taking some rest.

I have two living with me.  Tinker is a silver tabby with white paws.  Very sweet, although she does demand that things are done on her terms.  She's 4 years old now.  I took her in from a vet clinic where I used to work.  They sometimes neglected her because she was 'the stray' and didn't have an owner paying for her care.  I didn't care for the vet's ethics, so I named her and adopted her.  She in turn, adopted me.  Diego is our resident demon who is not yet 2 years old.  He's a tabby with a rougish face and an attitude to match.  Causes much trouble, yet is also a momma's boy.  We adopted him from a local adoption agency.
