point taken, yet not everyone wants to go to that extreme...but, perhaps they would...who really knows for sure.

Ok, I have to ask...please explain the difference between lifestyle and pro

I have heard it before, but the way that it is being used here, is making me think that my interpertation was wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy off. Not so much on the pro , but on the lifestyle.

I've never been clear on that either.....

A lifestyle domme is someone who does not require a tribute.  They may, however, receive gifts and such from their own (or owned) submissives and are generally in a LTR with their sub/slave.
A pro domme requires a tribute (oh, that nasty word again!) and sees clients that do not wish a LTR - usually because they are committed to a vanilla relationship and do not wish to come "out of the closet".
This has been my understanding anyway.

Mike . is a lost puppy ..........Im a pro domme Mike and I love every play I have with every client and if I wasnt here to give people that service where could they get it>>>who would have the equipment for them to use and enjoy[:)]....
Im sure most people dont have and cant afford to have over $10000 worth of equipment sitting in their house...
<Mike I feel sorry for you as you ll never get to have the fun people who pay prodommes will have.. as you will never be contributing to the building up of a places equipment that you can come and enjoy... thus you will always be sitting in your corner on that nail and moaning about others...MF

You make an excellent point here.  It is not uncommon for a pro domme to end up putting a lot of her profits right back into the business.  They are also usually generous enough to loan or perhaps rent out their space for munches, meetings, parties, couples wanting a BDSM getaway, etc., etc.

Actually Misstressnfantasy brings up an excellent point, which has not been addressed directly in any of the other threads I have seen on the subject of professional domination.  In many places, pro-dommes have built and equipped some truly wonderful dungeons, and they are often willing to provide their playspace to other non-pro's and scenesters for their use in play.  Of course, you have to pay, just as you would for using a hotel room or some other type of space--but what a playground!

Many of us, no matter how long we have been in the lifestyle, do not have the space, time and money to build and maintain a well-maintained dungeon which has such a huge variety of equipment for various fantasy scenes--even though we and our subs might have very vivid fantasies about exotic locales and props--medieval racks, tiger cages, crosses and medical examination tables, etc..

Professional dominants of both sexes often serve as an extremely important community resource, not only because they tend to be more experienced and informed than any non-professional is likely to be, but also because you can sometimes use their wonderful playspace very much as a vanilla couple might use a hotel room for a little sexual get-a-way.

Oops!  Looks like someone already made that point.  Thank you Morrigel.

I'm waiting to hear you say this to me.   I think you don't believe

your response with baited breath.

Because I have a very large monitor that has super high resolution.
For some damn reason, Bill Gates thought people with large
monitors and high resolution would like to see everything smaller.
The larger the screen you have, and the higher the resolution, the
smaller the charaters look on your monitor.

Everything on my computer monitor appears much smaller than
it does on yours.  This font size is so tiny, I can barely read it.  I
would need an electron microscope to read smaller font sizes.
It feels funny sending a message in a font size too small  to
read.

I am neither a dom, nor a sub.

I take it someone does not know how to adjust their own computer font sizes. Geesh, my 13 year old knows how to do that.

I think we can give opinions without insulting each other. Come on already!

No topic invokes such long threads and heated debates. I don't know how it got so off topic.

LOL misconstrued Michael?

I have to ask, I can't help myself.

How are our opinions of you so far off base?

WhipTheHip -> RE: Pro-Dommes, Prostitution, and sexual burnout. (10/18/2006 5:59:04 AM)

Dommes and prostitutes both sell sexual services.  Just because they have this
one thing in common does not mean Dommes are prostitutes any more than
phone sex  workers are prostitutes or all exotic dancers are prostitutes.
Prostitution is illegal in most of the United States.  Dominatrix work is not.
That is one big difference.  Prostitutes subject themselves and others to
sexually transmittted diseases.  Dommes do not.    Prostitutes allow
themselves to be degraded for money, Dommes do not.   Most prostitutes
cannot work as Dommes, and most have no interest in it.

Humans are animals and worms are animals, hence
humans are worms.  This is the exact kind of logic used here
to prove Dommes are prostitutes.   Dommes are sex workers
and prostitutes are sex workers, hence Dommes must be
prostitutes.

After reading your profile, I have to wonder in why you would try to create this ULTRA loving community and go and put a negative post like you did.  That's so wrong you know.  When you KNOW that would create ULTRA loving comments and lashes and hugs.
