ORIGINAL: Lorelei115 So I've been reading a lot of the Pro-Dom threads that have been floating around the boards lately, and unfortunately, I think we all know that a lot of them are negative... I won't go into particulars, simply suffice to say that I think every story has two sides and its impossible to categorize people by profession. That's like saying "All accountants are boring." Some of them might be, indeed, but that's CERTAINLY not true for all. Anyway, I wanted to ask the Professionals out there a couple questions. First, what made you think that a career in Pro-Domming was right for you? I realized that I have a talent. I have desires that run deep and that I am loyal to. I realized that I could either spend My time and My energy sitting with some guy doing what he wanted, while yes, I enjoyed it, but it wasnt paying the bills and they wanted more and more of MY time...and of ME...so it was either make up what I would lose missing a day of work, or just tell them to go on and get bent. Second, what steps did you take in order to become a Pro-Dom? I dont think I took any real steps per say...I mean I read up on sterilization, for various toys, and set up a list of guide lines for Me and for them to be safe. Are there legal precedents and such you have to work around? Bondage is touchy in the US, and finding a Domme that isnt territorial and that will help you lear anything is just as touchy. I simply did some research and found what I could and couldnt do. I make sure that all clients sign a waiver, and I have copies of divers Liscense, and that I have proff to show that there is no penatrive sex, and that this is consensual. Did you mentor with another Pro? I did try to contact several Pros to speak with, none would speak with Me, they were all very close to the vest on what they did and how or what ever...But I finally did get in contact with a few that started Me down the road to getting where I needed to be. I basically took what I had been doing and applied it in a professional setting. I did have a Drag Queen friend tell Me I should be "more in character..." But I am enuff of a Character that I dont think that was needed. ;) And third, since becoming a Pro-Dom, has BDSM stopped being fun and become more like "work"? I think any one with sense is happier when working something that they love. When they find that thing that makes them happy. But just like many of the others here...its best to simply take some time off and relax and get in touch with you...alot of times being the evil bitch in some guys wet dream...well...it desensitizes you. I ask these questions out of curiousity... I've been told many a time that I would make a great Pro-Dom, but I'm afraid that if I did it as a "career" it would become work to me, rather than something I love and enjoy.
