Status: offline 		I find it interesting that people are more comfortable playing profane games with Catholic female iconography than with Muslim female iconography.  Isn't the point of being profane to be...profane?  Yes, of course it's insulting.  Are we under the impression that devout and earnest Catholics are thrilled when we flounce around dressed as Catholic school girls or nuns?  

That being said, there are many Islamic images which I find sexier than a burka.  Burkas are for the virtuous wives of Islamic society--kinda the equivalent of dressing up as a soccer Mom, from my point of view.  I'd rather see a slave attired as...a slave.  After all, REAL human slavery exists among Arabs even to the present day!  I'm sure it's not fun for most of the people involved, but it makes a fun game for decadent Westerners like me...

Status: offline 		One of the female professors in the anthropology department where I went to college wrote a book about female circumcision and had lived in the Middle East for a period of time, as well as Sudan and Egypt. She brought in modesty garments from all over to demonstrate them to us.

She had some garb from Saudi Arabia which was as covering as a burka. Basically there was even mesh that covered the eyes so one's vision was  somewhat obstructed. She wore this for attire several times to interact in Saudi society. She reported she felt entirely invisible. She was more free in some ways than she ever felt in Western society. No one could see her so she could travel about and not feel judged by her weight, her age, or socio economic status. Since most women dressed like this, no one even glanced her way for any reason. She rather enjoyed the experience and in some ways felt that all women should have this sort of experience. I am intrigued, and if I visited this type of society I would love to try this experience on for size and see if I interpreted it the same way. I believe I very well might, because freedom can be found in the most unlikely places

Status: offline 		Julia, i woukd agree with her.  my short time following islamic precepts was very freeing.  What seems to us like the  subjugation of women was very different for those that practiced it by choice, rather than as part of a political system.

To the moslem women i knew,  their world was filled with honest, respectful protective men who took sole  (and soul!) responsibility for their welbeing.  Of course, that's because they, like BDSMers or M/s D/s participant, were there by choice... i'm sure my observations would have been entirely different had i been in a different country with different political and cultural mores.

Quite possibly even most.
But the fact that they are required to has always been the part that irked.
There are aspects of any restrictive culture that will fit perfectly for some.
But for those unsuited to the system? It is most likely hell.
Of course, the same might be true in any system, after all, looking about america, I can't say that everyone seems perfectly pleased.....

Done it, (well somewhat, it was me and my gf as guards, and one of her friends as the jew). Really, I don't see a problem with any practice of roleplay you wish to have, after all there are tons of people who fantisize about incest when role playing, but most would never touch a family member.

Through personal experience, I very much enjoy gore roleplays during phone sex with the person I'm sleeping with, if I haven't had a chance to see her in a while. Catholics deserve as much respect as Muslims.  If you are going to make exceptions to dissing one religion over another, then it is because of the current 'fear' that you are experiencing.  If you are going to soil a religious belief, why discriminate against any particular religion?  Perhaps its time for a replay of the inquisitions and crusades...you'd be afraid to speak out against the catholics if it were so... 

So yes "all this pc crap is getting on my nerves."  Stop being afraid.  Wanna get your kink in public wearing religious/racial attire?  Go for it.  Stop being afraid and pc, and stop catering to the fear...  That is the current agenda... to be afraid of speaking out against that fundementalist intererpetation of that religion, because bad things might happen to you. Have faith that they are a small minority overall,  but be ready for the consequences if you decide to flaunt it in their faces.

No...I am not catholic....merely one sick of the catering to those that have earned 'respect' through the persecution and fear instilled in others through violence. 

And yes, to the OP... I would think that burkas would be itchy, cumbersome, uncomfortable, erotic, and possibly humiliating to a submissive...  perhaps the perfect disciplinary action to a submissive that had earned it...but I would certainly be present to protect her in case things got out of hand in current world dynamics.  Additionally, I have no intention of subjecting my submissive to this.  It's not our kink.  I just got abit irritated by givemyall's discrimination and submitting to barbaric religions based on her fear.

In certain areas of the US and also in London, since 911 especially, there have been reports about both male and females being attacked, bullied and ostracized by certain groups of people for being muslim.  i can't site the actual occurences, i just remember hearing about them.

For me, it is not a matter of what they think, or what anyone else thinks for that matter, but more so a matter of how i conduct my own thoughts toward others, and what i think about the person i am. The line of thought (well they don't care about us, so why bother to care about them) does not appeal to me personally, but i am able to understand some of the reasoning as to why you would feel that way, but i don't have to agree with it. *smile

Status: offline 		There is a place in Houston called Mix Modern Clothes. If some really nice guy wanted to buy me one of the 'burkas' they sell there, I would happily wear it.
 
They may need to take out out a loan ... just to be warned.
