Well - I guess you could hide a lot of play toys under the burka if you wanted to - vibrators, butt plugs (and the harness that holds them in), nipple clamps, gags, etc. It would be a trip to walk past a woman in a burka and wonder what the buzzing noises coming from her direction were from.

Using quick reply:

I love the idea of wearing a burka and have been interested in veiling for years. I'm heavy into being isolated and cloistered though so that kind of explains my fascination with it. I don't see what the issue would be, I see that in Southern CA quite often in public.

No popeye... I do not think you care what I think...Peace

Julia, I didn't say that I didn't care what you think, I asked if you thought that those people cared what you think.
I actually enjoy reading your threads because it's fun when you go way left of liberal. But, if one (keeps) doing that they run the risk of no longer being considered a liberal.
How can anyone claim to know what someone else is thinking anyway?
It's like that crowd who say; "The world hates America because..."
How could they possibly know what "the world" is thinking?
Can anyone in here guess what I'm thinking right this minute?

i had an interesting discussion with a dom friend who is entertaining the idea of having his sub wear a burka once in a while with nothing on underneath in public. Some of the thoughts that went though my mind ranged from her being racially targeted, to being extremely hot in the summer with nappy sweaty hair stuck to my forehead, to extreme erotic imaginings.

Is this something any of you have ever considered trying?

Ummmmmm....

Remeber that.

Popeye, I really do not care what you think... so its even

Edited to add...

I believe this world would be a lot better off if more people stopped thinking only of themselves and started thinking about how to interact with our fellow humans...

I do care what you think popeye, I wish more people would care how each other thinks... and I should not have posted the first part, but I left it because I own what I say...

Julia, I said that I don't care what people in those countries think and you said you don't care what I think so "now we're even."
So in other words 1 Julia =  all the people in those other countries?
Wanting to "Buy the World a Coke" is a nice sentiment and all but life just doesn't work that way.
Especially when the "religion" of a lot of those people tells them to kill you.

I live in a small city with a military base, college and medical school. I see women in burkas all the time. The arabs plus many black muslims. The arabs are usually wives of military officers from countries that are our allies. I never see them ridiculed or whatever. What's the big deal?

They are probably wearing the Hajab...not the Burka.

Big difference.

I am curious how you percieve it would be any different than people wearing other religious symbols as fashion etc.

Julia, do you think that they care what you think?
"East is East and West is West and never t' twain shall meet."
I just wish they'd run out of oil real quick so we wouldn't have to deal with them anymore.

Hey Popeye... and all...

...there is neither East nor West, Border, nor Breed, nor Birth ...

#1.  Though I've never done it,
not even considered it... puttin a burka on a sub
seems like a pretty hot idea (especially here in SoCal during the summer).

#2.  That "East is East and West is West" quote
is actually one of the most misunderstood and mis-used quotes of all....

Here's Kipling's entire stanza,
which actually speaks of the common experience of "Man",
and how we are all more similar than different!

The last two lines totally refute,
and turn the first two lines of "conventional wisdom"
on their head.  The rest of the poem continues in that theme...

The Ballad of East and West
Rudyard Kipling (1865–1936)

OH, East is East, and West is West, and never the twain shall meet,
Till Earth and Sky stand presently at God’s great Judgment Seat;
But there is neither East nor West, Border, nor Breed, nor Birth,
When two strong men stand face to face, tho’ they come from the ends of the earth!

DD, a heretical, poetical old goat

PS... http://www.bartleby.com/246/1129.html

PSS... the more I think of it,
the more I like the idea of having my love
naked, oiled, perfumed, lubed, and available,
but under a burka-like thing out in public.....

edited to format the poem a tad.....

My first thought would be her safety out in public. There is an immense negative imagery in popular culture with adherents to Islam so her dom, or whatever he is, clearly is not evaluating the situation very clearly. Perhaps at a Ren Faire or SCA event he could get away with it safely but not out in general public, at least I wouldn't risk My property in such a manner.

Now is it a bit kinky and fun sounding? Yes! I think for those Goreans who feel an allegiance to the Nomads of Gor book's characters it might be an interesting bit of slave attire, even FC attire.

There is the whole Arabian Nights theme to play with also.
I have seen photographs of genuine gals over in the Middle East pulling such a stunt for their boyfriends/husbands. Really very naughty stuff and great fun it sure seemed from the photos.
Too bad the world is so lacking in understanding.
Very interesting topic, raiken,  thanks for bringing it up.
I wish you well

Kaledorus, exactly.
I live in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina which is a resort area on the coast but if someone were wearing one of those things just 10 miles inland where all the big pick-up trucks with the Rebel flags are there's a real good chance that they'd never be seen again.
We're talking "RED-NECK".

Well in the USA...you might get suspected as "terrorist" for wearing one...so be careful.

Bush may send you Guantanamo.

sissify, you can come here anytime and it's very nice.
But, just don't wear a burka in public.
I'm from Boston, Mass origionally and you probably shouldn't be wearing one in S. Boston or E. Boston either.
Those people are also "Red Necks" who just have a funny accent.

[sarcasm]

It is so heartwarming to hear of places in the United States of America where the citizenry that live there are completely unfettered by the ideals written as the First Amendment of the US Constitution.

[/sarcasm]

But that is just me and I could be wrong.

Explain the difference.

Is it that women in Burkas are wearing those things that cover most of the body and head without covering the face? That is what I thought they were.

Are Hajabs (this new word you introduce here) the things that cover the face also?
