This is one of the first posts that I have read here. Interesting how the the initial question gets lost in the secondary dialogs.
It strikes me that all meaningful relationships are elusive and take time, patience, wisdom, and good fortune to find. I personally do not think it matters a wit if the relationship is D/s or not.
It may well matter if one is seeking to make a connection online. Again, that is not about this site specifically, nor D/s in general, but simply that the online venue is one where it is possible to be less than complete, honest, open about who one is and what his/her circumstances are. A wise soul will exercise patience and caution with initial online connections, regardless of orientation.
