Yep, that's him, Jason Campbell, Auburn.  As far as I know this will be his debut, on Sunday, against Chucky's losers.

Level -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (11/14/2006 4:31:09 PM)

Ahhh.... well, if he plays up to his talent level, Chucky is going to be singing the blues. [;)]

KatyLied -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (11/14/2006 4:33:22 PM)

I think he's already singin' that song.

Hey, just finished watching the local sports, Parcells said Romo has "some renegade in him" lol. He was talking about some of his less than sterling passes, but Parcells loves the guy, I think.

Now here's some scary shit:

FOXBOROUGH, Mass (AP) -- Vinny Testaverde, who came out of retirement last season to help out the New York Jets, was signed on Tuesday by New England.

The move came after the Patriots lost two straight for the first time since 2002 as Tom Brady played two of his poorest games. Until signing Testaverde, New England had only one other quarterback on its roster, second-year pro Matt Cassel.

cloudboy -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (11/14/2006 10:25:16 PM)

Ray Lewis was listed as overrated too, and Travis Henry burned the Ravens for 100+ yards (first time this season such has happened) while Lewis sat out with a sprained back. Ray's not in his prime, but he's still a damn good MLB.

I wouldn't name Tom Brady overrated, but he sure looked bad against the Colts. On a different day, he pulls that game out.

Overrated to me would be: TO (what idiot could complain about Donovan McNabb?) and Randy Moss (no motivation.)

I'm curious to see if Vince Young starts to rally the Titans to some upset victories. He's an interesting newspaper clip:

>While Young threw for 211 yards, ran for 39, and scored a rushing touchdown, Ravens defensive end Trevor Pryce was impressed with Young's strength. "That last scramble he had [a 17-yard gain to put Tennessee in field-goal position on the team's final series], I hit the ball," Pryce said. "I literally hit his hand with the ball. His hand went down, but he still had the ball in his hand. I was like, 'Oh, my God.' That kid is something else because I have strong hands, but his hands are stronger."<

I don't think Jason Campbell will be a "Romo" figure for the Redskins.

Curious if Schottenheimer will stick with the passing game against DEN whose run defense is impenetrable.

KatyLied -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (11/15/2006 5:07:39 AM)

Yeah, I read that article and was going to link it myself.  Weird about Testaverde, coming out of retirement to help the Pats (of all teams needing "help", I certainly wouldn't consider the Pats among that group).  mbmbn, what do you think about this?

maybemaybenot -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (11/15/2006 6:09:39 AM)

Pats signed 3 people on Tuesday, Vinnie T being one. There has been a whole lot of speculation over the last few weeks about Brady. He just isn't " right", something is lacking. I mean we all know our recieving corp is average at best, but Brady is throwing balls behind them, missing wide open recievers, uncharacteristicaly high amount of turnovers, sloppy mistakes, etc. The O line bears responsibilty too, but many many of the things have been Brady  " just not being Brady". Look at his QB ratings. Horrid !
There is talk that he is hurt. That's one possibility.
The one that I give the most credence to is that they signed Vinnie T to sort of mentor/ simmer Brady down. Our offensive coach is young and IMO, not doing a great job. Mc Daniels lacks the maturity of a Charlie Weiss and Romeo Crennel, even Mangini. IMO, his lack of maturity in the NFL hampers his ability to coach/mentor Brady. He has been the QB coach, but I think OC is a bit over his head.
From that standpoint Vinnie T makes sense as a psuedo QB coach. It would be crazy to fire McDaniels < no one is happy with him here> and plug a guy in midseason and have the players have to learn a whole new offense. We could be kicking some serious ass with Dillon and Maroney, but McDaniels under utilizes the run. Alot of things up here are just not making sense this year.
One other theory is that Matt Cassell is injured and or on thin ice. Before the Colts game he was listed with a shoulder injury and probable as I re call. One of the local scandel rags has reported that Cassell got quite drunk at a team fundraiser and one other instance of public drunkeness at an event < can't re call what event it was>. I still can't see Vinnie T being listed ahead of Cassell on the roster, given his age and past performance as an aged QB in Dallas. Hell he makes Bledsoe look like Elway in regards to mobility.
There are a lot of questions from the fanbase and media base up here as to " what the hell is going on". We hesitantly accepted as we watched loved and key players leave this season for other teams < Branch, McGinest, Vinitieri > but we still drank the BB Kool aide, thinking he had a " plan". After this years performance, to date, that is coming under scrutiny as to whether or not BB is actually in his right mind. lol. Looking at the Pats record is one thing, yup we are 6-3, but we are not playing well AT ALL. Lucky to squeak those wins out, except Vikings.
Not sure if any one saw the game against the Jets, but Seymour was benched by the coaching staff that day around half time. That is really really out of whack. Yea, he was not getting plays off, but he is a veteran and one of the team leaders and to pull him, again, just didn't make sense. Colts game: Dillon was not even on the sidelines in the second half, no injury, no explanation,, what's up with that? After the JETS game Seymour told the pres that the Pats were " out coached and outplayed. Superficially that doesn't sound to bad becasue it is true. But one thing that you rarely hear is a *player* talking about being out coached, that usually comes from the coaching staff. Well in New England anyway. There has been alot of specualtion as to " hidden meaning" and disatisfaction when Seymours interview has been disected.

That's all I know, which tell you alot of nothing, but that is all we have up here. Specualtion and rumor. < shrugs>

BTW  the Kool aid is getting kind of bitter and harder to swallow.

I was beginning to wonder if Brady had been concussed.  That seems to be the injury of choice lately (at least for the Steelers).  He has seemed way out of sorts the last two games.  Speculation is not fun.  I hope he's not hurt.  I figured he's just going through a slump.

I got to agree, he just looks "out of it", or bewildered, or something. He's still a primo player, though, and I bet the Pats get things lined out.

Vince is a freak, and it broke my heart he decided to leave Texas last year. If he improves his passing a bit, he can be dominant.

I'd rather pit Tomlinson (the best RB in the NFL in my mind) against the Denver D than throw near Champ Bailey. It's going to be a terrific game, cloudboy.

KatyLied -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (11/15/2006 5:38:12 PM)

I could go look, and I will later, but where are those Lightning Bolts and Broncos playing?  Mile High?  When will Plummer go goofy (interception throwing)?

About Vince Young, he took so much heat over his wonderlich, I've not yet gotten over that.  Merrill Hoge says he can't read defenses and is confused by it all and lucky when he has an open guy to throw long to.  He's a rookie though, I hate talking bad about rookies, the first year is hideous for a qb, so much to learn.  Time will tell what Vince Young is made of.

They'll be in Denver, and let's keep in mind the Chargers have an outstanding defense, as well. They won't have Shaun Merriman, but Sean Phillips is a devastating pass rusher. I can see them blitzing the hell out of Plummer, and that could make the game.

Well, I don't know how his career will turn out, but I promise you, he's no dummy lol. And one thing I keep in mind, before the 2005 season, he was nitpicked about his passing and decision making-- he took that to heart, worked his tail off, and led Texas to a national championship the next year. He's cool as a cucumber, but he's also quite determined when he wants to be.

Well, Vander-ass is killing us.

KatyLied -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (11/19/2006 3:37:37 PM)

Vandass - I think you can blame the Steelers for his demise.  Has he been the same since missing that clutch field goal in the AFC playoffs when the Steelers played the Colts?

Did you see the Steeler game today?  Sheesh, we kicked ass, but not until the 4th quarter.  I hope people will stop whining about Big Ben when he has bad times, because he showed what he can do today, when down and seemingly out.

Yes, as we've both stated, the Steeler faithful need to be just that, faithful. The team is too good to be written off just yet. I saw the last 3 minutes or so, after the Texans/Bills fiasco lol.

Oh............ we're leading the Colts! Talk about keeping faith............. sheeeeesh. [X(]

KatyLied -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (11/19/2006 4:14:10 PM)

Yep, it looks like the Colts undefeated season is over.

edite cause I can't spell

Level -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (11/19/2006 4:15:15 PM)

How 'bout those Cowboys???

Dallas  21
Indy     14

If we can get a stud or two for the O-line, this team could be very, very special.

KatyLied -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (11/19/2006 4:21:31 PM)

I guess people will not be second-guessing Parcell's decision to put Romo in.
