You know, during his career, no one ever blamed Dan Marino for failing to win a Super Bowl.  You didn't start hearing that stuff until after he retired.  Basically, it was Boomer Esiason who made a big issue of it--and last I checked, Boomer didn't win any Super Bowls either.  So, yeah, I think this is going to be Peyton's year--but last year was Peyton's year, and the year before that was Peyton's year too.  He's been the best quarterback in football for a while now, and he's not to blame for the fact that his team hasn't won any championships.

The Colts were very close last year.  The Steelers never should've won that game.  It was a gift.  I enjoy watching Peyton play, regardless of where his team stands.

Mario Williams, #1 pick of the NFL and Houston Texans. 4 1/2 sacks so far. Shown some tremendous burst and strength at times.

You know, I'm just saying.

NFL news:

Bill Walsh, the Hall of Fame coach who led the San Francisco 49ers to their first three Super Bowl championships in the '80s, is battling leukemia. http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/6157636?FSO1&ATT=HMA

Okay, Jerry Jones just gave a hint as to the new stadium... he said they'll often keep the roof closed, but the end-zone roofs open, creating a comfortable air flow. They'll do the unveiling come December.

Dallas at the Cardinals. This should be a "healing" game for what happened last week, let's hope so.

Yes, there was great joy in East Rutherford this afternoon...but Level, we've already moved on to a new NFL thread:

This thread will never die!
The Steelers won another game!  Finally.

Yes, it's astonishing what can happen when they actually don't turn the ball over 5+ times a game. The running attack was awesome. I think Fast Willie is still running! :)

Big sigh of relief.  I was beginning to worry that the team was not going to get their hands back.

[:D]........ and look how well Ben played, and Parker too. Don't give up the ship!

Oh, another W in the desert for Big D, as well. Romo is looking sharp.

KatyLied -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (11/12/2006 6:11:24 PM)

It was a good day, with some upsets and close games.  I don't give up.  If we end up with a losing season, my hope is that we can play spoiler for some teams with good records.  Gotta have something to live for.  [8D]

Level -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (11/12/2006 6:20:39 PM)

Giants 10 Bears 3 in the 2nd quarter.

Yes, some close games, katy. Chargers nipped the Bengals, Denver survived Oakland, Houston once again beat the Jags, Seattle edged the Rams, and the Ravens beat the Used-To-Be-Oilers. All tight games..... it's been a nice Sunday.

KatyLied -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (11/12/2006 6:23:59 PM)

I do not like the Ravens, for obvious reasons.  But I hate the way that Air McNair was done by Tenessee, so I hoped for a revenge win for him.

LeMis -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (11/12/2006 7:27:55 PM)

We watched the Steelers game, yay!  [;)]

We are glad that Atlanta lost to the Browns, LOL.  [:D]

It sucks that the Pats lost.
[:(]

Reggie Bush has done all he can to help validate the Texans' decision.

Interesting QB class of Leinhart, Young, and Cutler. Young looked very good today, but he got somewhat rattled in the fourth quarter when his team got behind. Still, he eludes the rush well and showed a sense of making plays and hitting open receivers. The mobility dimension is what separated him from Cutler and Leinhart.

The surest pick of the draft was AJ HAWK out of Ohio State. (According to some pundits.) He went to GB. I'm not sure how he's doing.

Lordandmaster -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (11/12/2006 9:48:24 PM)

I wouldn't say that.  He had 49 rushing yards today on 10 carries, plus 7 catches for 40 yards and a 7-yard punt return.  Fumbling the ball wasn't a good idea, but that's not a bad day overall in the NFL.

I like Bush, but he hasn't been the second coming of Gayle Sayers as some predicted. At this point, some might argue that Moroney in NE was the best RB of the draft class.

Lordandmaster -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (11/12/2006 9:58:40 PM)

Well, no argument about Maroney.  He's very good.

Hawk is doing well, cloudboy, he has 67 total tackles and 4 sacks.

All 3 of the QBs you mentioned, in my opinion, have bright futures.

And while Williams went #1 in the draft, Houston has two other outstanding rookies: tight end Owen Daniels, who has become one of David Carr's favorite targets, and LB DeMeco Ryans, who is not only a ferocious hitter, but is already a team leader, and a young man of very high intelligence and character.
