But ,again my opinion ,he will have another Head coaching job offer the next year.

My dad and I were trying to think of what NFL team would want/need him.

As of this point, it appears the positions are a bit limited-- Atlanta, SF and Chicago. Don't see any of those wanting his talents, but the heads haven't stopped rolling, I'm sure.

Your animus towards Rex is proof enough to me that he was doing something right,Patriot fans hate him....I wonder why ?

I'm a Pats fan and I don't hate him. He was a buffoon and a blowhard but he was an entertaining buffoon and blowhard. That being said, I would much rather have a coach whose team plays in January instead of one who supposedly made fans of other teams "hate" him. Looks like Woody finally came to that realization as well.

Now Rex can go have all the goddamn snacks he wants [;)]

Taking fat jokes at him stef ?
really ?

Lol,Interesting news this morning.
The much maligned,at least here anyway,Rex Ryan is being interviewed for both the Atlanta and San Francisco jobs
Of the two I expect him to be offered the Atlanta job.....Ryan was a finalist for that job back when the Falcons hired their recently fired head coach(senior moment, can't remember his name....and don't feel like looking for it...lol).
Supposedly the owner was much impressed with Ryan's interview back than...so he has the inside track there.

What do they say? Past performance is no guarantee of future performance?

I suppose Rex can point to the long-standing trend of people doing really well after leaving the Jets organization as part of his sales pitch...

Are you drinking again Mike?

I would figure someone who has Ryan's nuts in his mouth as much as you do would have remembered this.

Quietly chuckling...

Speaking of youtube vids...

Here's a recent classic.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qrVFpjJBWqc

Yeah, "we did what we wanted to do on them". What, give up the 3rd and 19?

"I thought we were good enough to beat them."

Apparently, your 3-11 record, or whatever it was at that point, spoke otherwise. There's no doubt that Ryan has some skills. He wouldn't be a coach in the NFL if he didn't. But, where has he really shown them in the past several years?

He may have some interviews for head coaching jobs, but yeah... SF doesn't need a "defensive guy", and certainly doesn't need his mouth. And, Atlanta? Maybe. Would be interesting to see the rivalry with Rob...if he stays with the Saints.

Oh boy ,did I stir up a hornets nest or what ?

I usually have to be over on politics and religion to get into this much trouble.

What is Chris Christie doing in Jerry's box rooting for the Cowboys ?
Doesn't he have two teams that play in his state...one of them a division rival ?
What would Giant fans think....are doesn't Christie care anymore ?

I would guess it's because he's a fan of the Cowboys and has been his entire life.

Who cares what they think? If I were unfortunate enough to live in that toilet of a state, I would respect him a lot more for sticking to his team rather than switching to a local team just to pander for votes.

slvemike4u -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (1/4/2015 6:41:13 PM)

Wow,now you insult an entire state.....and I thought it was just me you didn't like [:)]

stef -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (1/4/2015 8:11:34 PM)

Mike, you don't matter enough to dislike.

FR -

Just a random thought from Chicago:

Whenever discussing/evaluating Rex Ryan's coaching abilities, don't forget who his father is.
Buddy was regarded as a defensive genius of sorts (questionable in my mind for several reasons), but when Buddy transitioned to a head coaching job, he was about as successful as Rex.

Like his dad, Rex's strength is on the defensive side and I think that's where he would do best.
Being a head coach is not the best job for him.

Thanks....I think lol
Care to tell me where this ,shall we say aversion,originated....cause to tell you the truth I don't remember any particular point where you and I disagreed so much that your fangs come out at every post with my name attached to it.
not that it matters all that much....I'm just wondering and hoping to put into context your animus towards me

Christie is a politician.

Jerruh is a Bazillionaire.

Nuff said

slvemike4u -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (1/5/2015 10:46:04 AM)

He's also,it turns out,a lifelong Cowboys fan....which in and of itself ,should have torpedoed his governorship of the state of New Jersey(referred to as a toilet of a state by one poster, disregarding the fsct that it is indeed one of the original thirteen )being as that is Giant country [:)]

He has two *NY* teams that play in his state.

He is also looking toward a national political career. What better place to do that than with "America's team"?

slvemike4u -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (1/5/2015 10:52:20 AM)

I know full well those teams wear NY on their helmets...I bleed Giant blue, and have a certain affinity for Jet Greenwhen I'm not being a cradle to the grave Yankee fan)but Christie as a national politician is reason enough for me to go running into the bathroom to vomit.
He makes me sick.....nothing more than a bully.

Oh, and back to the subject at hand...

Seems like Josh McDaniels (NE Offensive Coordinator) is looking like a front-runner for the Atlanta HC job. What is the phrase..."what have you done for me lately"?
