I said direct benefit...none
Indirectly,oh yeah the league is in bed with the gambling interests....hence the injury report, which is nothing more than a thinly disguised betting tip sheet.

Yes...or wait...no...not the NFL...couldn't be....

Jeff Darlington from the NFL Network just tweeted that John Fox has already been let go and Elway met with the rest of the coaching staff and told them they should all start looking for other positions. What a bloodbath.

And as much fun it would have been to consider Sexy Rexy in orange next year, looks like he's finalized his deal to go coach the Bills today.

Just chuckles.

Mariotta has been characterized as the next Aaron Rogers. I'm curious if that turns out to be true.

He's got it all. And none of the drama of Jameis Winston. Hope the best for him (notwithstanding the "apple green" uniforms).

I heard about Fox but not about the rest of the coaching staff. That's pretty drastic and indiscriminating.

Plus the talent out there isn't quite as good as the talent getting let go...

I wonder where Fox winds up ?
Taking a year off,if you are Fox ,might mean not getting another pro offer.
He doesn't strike me as the flavor of the month going forward.
How old is he ?

When giving the head coach the boot, it's pretty common to tell the rest of the staff to start looking too. When a new coach comes in he usually wants to populate the staff with his own people and the majority of the current staff will be told they're no longer needed. As soon as word got out on Fox, I'm guessing most of the remaining staff were already making calls and shipping resumes anyway.

3 turnovers and Oregon still trails Ohio state.
The Ohio defense has, done some job in containing Mariota ,though a few third down drops haven't helped either.
The Ohio tailback is threatening 200 yards for the third straight game,he's a load.
He's going to look good playing on Sunday afternoons

slvemike4u -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (1/12/2015 7:53:23 PM)

Nevermind lol

cloudboy -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (1/12/2015 9:43:21 PM)

In just one season, a four team college playoff makes the old system seem entirely insane and misguided. OSU would not even have qualified for the championship under the old system --- and they've been nothing short of dominant. Can't wait to see MICH-OSU with Harbaugh at the helm v. Meyer.

Will it take 30+ years to expand to eight teams?

Nothing would please me more than to see the SEC pushed out of the spotlight by other conferences. Here's hoping.

---

NE minus 7 looks like a great bet to me v. the Colts.

slvemike4u -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (1/13/2015 7:41:13 AM)

Nah,I think they go to eight real soon....have you seen the insane ratings numbers ESPN has gotten ?
The money is too big .

kdsub -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (1/13/2015 9:52:36 AM)

I like the 8 team Idea... even if the get rid of one non-conference game to accommodate it.

I was ready to turn the TV off with five minutes to go, looked like my 'Hawks were toast

Glad I didnt

Said to myself, "Self - these are the Seattle Seahawks. Best in the world... It would be crazy to give up on them now"

Glad I listened

Congrats San. My prediction: my Pats will see your Hawks in the Super Bowl.

DAMN, that stadium was rocking at the end of that game

Almost felt bad for the Green Bay fans and team

I didn't see the game but this makes me smile. I'm not a Hawks fan per se but I LOATHE the Packers. So glad you guys eliminated them.

Sanity -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (1/18/2015 4:38:51 PM)

Epic fifteen point comeback in the final five minutes, including recovering an offside kick and a two point conversion

Went into overtime when the Packers scores a field goal in the final seconds

Seahawks won the OT coin toss and marched in to score a TD on the first possession

Russel Wilson was in tears
