The hell with predictions, let's look backward. In fifteen (15) years as an NFL coarch Bill Cowher only posted three (3) losing seasons. Twice he went a not so bad 6-10 and once he went 7-9. Never did he post an abysmal record, and he won with a core of players that rotated and for the most part never featured a top line QB. On one season he went to the AFC championship game with Kordell Stewart. In another season he went to the Super Bowl with Neil O'Donnell. One season he made Tommy Maddux look good. Under his tenure the PITT hallmarks were always a good physical defense and a consistent running game behind a strong OL. The personnel turned over a great deal b/c PITT as an organization did not believe in overpaying for its players, so many an all pro player like Rod Woodson, Chad Brown, and others departed the Steelers and the team soldiered on without them. All in all, the Steelers show that a franchise with a good scheme, organization, and coach can win year to year in the NFL. The only other organization I see on par with the Steelers the past fifteen (15) years is the Bronchos. In many ways I think it was the Steelers who have showed the Ravens how to play football, and I am curious to see how Cohwer's departure affects the balance of power in the AFC North and how the Steelers move on with a new coach at the helm.
