I will be shocked if Romo turns out to be a bust. I have no idea how he is taking so much heat for the last five games of the season. To me, as I watched the games, it looked like other teams were lining up to stop the run, and Dallas was running anyway. The defense had no pass rush, and no attempt to blitz at all. They couldn't stop anyone. By the time Romo got to work the passing game, they were behind and everyone knew they were going to throw. The other issue Romo has, is that neither of his backs are worth a fuck as pass blockers. They ended up putting in Oliver Hoyt a lot on passing downs, who is no threat to catch the ball.

Romo has some nice tools. He throws on the run very well and has a quick release. Fortunately, if he is a bust, they have two firsts to move up next year and take Brian Brahm or Chad Henne. I think Brian Brahm is going to be a stud. I don't think they will need to do that, and can instead take Darrin McFadden, and have a REAL running back on the team. (for Level). [;)]

I think TO had a pretty good year for what the Cowboys paid him. He is making a lot more this season, so will need to have a better season. All the drama ... what can you say. TO might as well cause some, because if he doesn't, the Dallas media will make it up anyway, and their fiction is usually worse than truth.

McFadden is one that I'd love to see in a Cowboy's jersey, he is one bad man [:D]. Honestly, I think he's very close to Adrian Peterson in terms of talent, hell, maybe he's better all around than Peterson. Now, I still like Jones and Barber, and McFadden would have to earn his spot heh heh.

CHICAGO (AP) - The Chicago Bears expect to see starting defensive end Alex Brown at their minicamp this weekend even though Brown says he's seeking a trade. http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/6819696  DALLAS (FOX Sports Adam Schein) -  Cowboys linebacker Bradie James summed it up with a simple phrase.
"It's the Wade Phillips renaissance."
Ah yes. There certainly has been an awakening and a rebirth of sorts in Dallas. Players are giddy. Smiles are omnipresent. Heck, even Terrell Owens showed up at mini-camp over the weekend. We cannot confirm or deny that he was there to lead a chorus of Kumbaya.

Now go out and win.

LONDON (AP) - The first regular season NFL game outside North America is shaping up as a hot ticket.

The first 40,000 tickets for the Oct. 28 game between the Miami Dolphins and New York Giants at the new Wembley Stadium sold in 90 minutes Wednesday.

"The speed in which such a large number of tickets were snapped up ... demonstrates the great excitement and appetite for the game in this country," said Alistair Kirkwood, managing director of NFL UK. "We know that the last few tickets available in this first batch will be gone very soon."

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - The Tennessee Titans need an experienced receiver to help Vince Young, and said Thursday they are interested in veteran Keyshawn Johnson
"There's mutual interest I'd say right now," coach Jeff Fisher said. "I think we'll probably look into the possibility of pursuing things. Where that goes, I can't tell you."

Worst to first: ranking the NFL off-seasons - Peter Shrager FOX Sports

And then there was May ... After three months of high-profile coaching changes, general manager switches, scouting combines, free-agent signings, cuts, waiver wire pickups, contract negotiations, franchise tags, draft stock rises, draft stock slips, trades, franchise tags, players who hate their franchise tags, and a whole lot of Brady Quinn talk — the busiest time of the 2007 off-season is finally behind us.  While there are certainly some loose ends still waiting to be tied up (ie. Trent Green, Lance Briggs, and Keyshawn's future), it's about that time. Yes, the time to rank the 2007 NFL off-seasons. 32 teams, 32 slots. Where'd your team finish up? Let's find out.

I wish the players were giddy in Pittsburgh.

Don't single out Alan Faneca:

And Big Ben took Tomlin out for dinner shortly after he arrived in Pittsburgh:

CINCINNATI (AP) -- Linebacker A.J. Nicholson was arrested on a domestic violence charge Friday, the first arrest of a Cincinnati Bengals' player since commissioner Roger Goodell cracked down on misconduct last month.

Nicholson already was one of nine Bengals players arrested during a nine-month span, turning the team into a prime example of player misconduct. The team had gone four months without having a player arrested.

DAVIE, Fla. (AP) -- If Ricky Williams makes a comeback, it most likely will be with a new team.

Miami Dolphins coach Cam Cameron, speaking publicly about Williams' latest drug relapse for the first time, said nothing has changed regarding the suspended running back's status. But several Dolphins said they're ready to play without Williams, and Cameron acknowledged it's difficult to salvage the careers of troubled players.

Rookie diary: LaMarr Woodley

By LaMarr Woodley, Special to Yahoo! Sports
May 17, 2007

Editor's note: LaMarr Woodley, a Michigan defensive end selected in the NFL draft by the Steelers to play linebacker, will share his introduction to the league with Yahoo! Sports through periodic diary entries leading up to the 2007 regular season.

It's been a long few weeks. I've gone through the NFL draft, the first minicamp of my career, and I'm just trying to get myself healthy and get ready for training camp. I'm anxious to get started. This has been the longest process of my life. You would think something like this is going to be easy, but it really isn't.

It all started on draft day when my cell phone was cutting off all day. I tried to get it fixed in the morning, but it kept shutting off. So I was really nervous, looking at my phone during the whole draft, wondering if it was still on and waiting for a team to call. When the 46th pick came up, I really didn't think the Pittsburgh Steelers were going to take me, but then my phone rang and I recognized the Pittsburgh area code.

Good stuff, Katy. Lots of no BS-ing going on in Steeler land lol. I don't know if I would have singled out Faneca like that, unless he was directly trying to undermine my authority, but I like that Ben sat Tomlin down and levelled with him.

caitlyn,
thanks for commenting on Romo.  He graduated from Eastern Illinois lol my hometown university.  One thing i do worry about with him is that he was playing on a different level than many other players.  It is a smaller school.  i think Eastern is still in Division IAA and not with the other elite programs.  i think he has the ability to do extremely well.  i think he might have a longer learning curve based on his background and the teams he played against.

Update:

Meshawn ain't gonna play for peanuts.  Seems 2.5 mil isn't enough to feed his family.  If he goes to the Titans he would be the #1 reciever, since Givens had surgery and isn't expected to start the season. Ole Keyshawn will get double tagged every down. Leaving Vince Young, throwing into coverage every down.[&:]

I have wondered why GB hasn't shown any interest in him, I think he's a better fit there. Besides it might make Brett " can't stop whining" Farve a little happier.

"I'm not in rental mode. You're not going to rent me for six months because someone with my career warrants more than that," Johnson said Thursday. "I just laugh when I read that stuff. All those editors should save their ink for another day. I keep seeing people say that I'm going to sit around and wait for a receiver to get hurt in training camp.
"I don't need to do that. I'm not playing for $750,000, $850,000, $1 million or $2.5 million. You can write that down."

LOL at "Meshawn" [:D].

mb, I'm surprised GB isn't after him too. And they may be, unbeknownst (sp????) to us mere mortals. After his performance at the draft, I would think he'd have an easy time getting a TV gig if no one offers up enough cash to WR though.
