I thought it was a new thread about getting revenge. Belive it or not, the same subject has been known to pop up more than a few times. Sometimes, the subject even has the exact same title.

I would like to get some feedback from others who might have been in a similar sitation.

Something pretty bad, well, really bad happened to me earlier this year.  I don't really want to give detail about the act, but it caused a lot of horrible things in my life, that I am still to this day trying to work out.

I hear some say that revenge is sweet, but since I have never gotten it, I am not sure.  In this, I won't get hurt anymore, and no one will be hurt physically or anything.

Part of me is sooooo tired of being treated bad, and wants to do this..the other part is torn and hates to hurt anyone ever.  Heck, even when I found the nightie of the woman my fiance' was cheating with, I put it in something so she could have it back, rather than throwing it in the trash.

I just wonder, have you ever had the chance to "get back" at someone?  Did you take it?  How did you feel after?  Do you regret either doing it, or not doing it?  Am I wrong for having these feelings, is this something I should just keep in my head, and not actually do..and just live with the satisfaction I could have, but didn't??

Ugh, I hate when what I write doesn't quite make sense, I hope it does to someone.

Akasha

i have gotten symbolic revenge, and yes, it was sweet.  However it sounds as if this situation requires all your  energy to recuperate, and i think you're best served by living your life as best as possible and forgetting the cruelty of others as soon as possible.

I try to strive to be the person my dog thinks I am

Don't let this situation make you something you yourself would abhor... then he wins.  Time wounds all heels. I'd let Karma take it's course.

THIS THREAD IS DEAD IT IS OVER A YEAR OLD

Give it another month or two and you'll see someone post a thread about if getting revenge is sweet. So, should we continue with this dead thread, or wait for another person to post the same question? Don't forget, when someone does ask the same question, someone will post this "Dead Thread" along with a few others for the OP to read in regards to getting revenge.

It's a no win situraion. You either read the same thread that was posted over a year ago or you read the same thread started by a new OP. What's it gonna be?

To me, the best revenge is not allowing the hurt to cause me to act just as bad as the one who hurt me.  Control is the key here, it shows maturity, wisdom, and strength.  Revenge is for those who have none of these.  They carry the burden of the negative, thereby missing the positive.  How sweet is that?

Nah, wait for karma to bite them on the arse. You can then laugh at them and not feel guilty.

My ex-wife lied about me, horribly.   I had many opportunities to seek revenge, but avoided them all, believing that taking the high road, though making you a better target, is the right road to take.

I was accused of horrible things.  Of sending a group of emails, apparently between her and her online lover, to her online lover's wife, for example.  And worst, lies to the children about me, such as not paying child support when every dime was sent through the court system to her.  And silly things too, such as spraying silly string into her engine or some such thing.

I was hurt.   Angry, especially with regard to the lies she told our kids..  I imagined a variety of revenge scenarios.  But I resisted.

And ya know, it worked out.  My kids have seen through her lies, though I regret that they had to....but given the bias in the court system, what's a father to do?

And I'm living well, with my new wife, who is truly my soul mate.   Who fits "just so" in my arms.  And who fills my life so much.

And the ex?  Still an angry, bitter, delusional bitch....who the kids tolerate but don't respect.

Living well is the best revenge.

Getting revenge makes you no better than the person that wronged you.   It may be tempting and you may be satisfied, but at what cost and for how long?

Have I been screwed over?  Yes, I have.   Did it come back to bite them in the ass?  Yes, royally. I actually felt sad for them when they crashed and burned because it was soooo much worse than what had been done to me and the others.

When I really want revenge, I pick up the phone and ring 3 6 2 4 3 6.  My enemy is taken care of and no questions asked. Anyone know what I'm talking about? A free back rub to the first person who figures it out.
