ORIGINAL: ownedgirlie IT departments have ways of knowing what sites you go to. People should know this. Even if your company blocks certain sites and this one is not blocked, they can still know you were on it and for how long. / Gosh! Thank goodness for small favors...i AM the IT dept. *grin If it were not for this time during the day, i would not have anytime to be online until the wee hours of the morning! *smile And, i CAN see what everyone else is doing online at any given time. But i don't make a big fuss, i am not that type of person. However, if their online activities are affecting the smooth operation of my network, they get a notice asap. Our network manager DOES make a big deal about it. We call him the Web Nazi. If someone goes to an "inappropriate" site, he notifies his/her manager and HR. "I'm protecting my network," he says. But really it's a control thing. He's got everything blocked, not just sexual sites. My partner in crime at work, is a control freak also, but thankfully not in that area or line of thought. Neither one of us are rats or brown nosers, nor or are we out to screw with the users down time activities. All we ask is that they respect that we have a job to do and this is to keep the network running at peak performance. i did have to block music sites, like lime wire, etc. Because too many folks were on those sites at the same time and it hogged bandwidth. Hec some of the engineers frequent porn sites, others are online gamers, etc. As long as this doesn't interfear with my job, i could care less what they do. It is not in my job description to go around reporting activities to big brother. There are already several self appointed informers around here who don't need any more help in that area. Ugh...lol
