A must read for all Canadians!   Hello

Someone knows the score!! A must read for all Canadians

One American's View David Meadows is a retired US Navy Captain and the author of numerous books and articles on military subjects. This message was on the U.S. Military.Com website. You will find it quite positive. It appears that Mr. Meadows knows one helluva lot more about what our military is doing than most Canadians. I trust this message will assist to improve their knowledge.

This should have been posted in Off Topic as it has zero to do with General BDSM discussion.

Yup, our Canadian cousins.
I think we can always count on each other for support when it's needed.

Its nice to see an American aknowledge what we canucks do, but in all honesty my first response was: "Well, yes. What else did you expect?"

A friend is not someone that does what you tell them, it is someone who helps you when you need help. This is something understood by Canada and many other countries, but not always by the general public or leaders of many countries.

SirKenin -> RE: A must read for all Canadians & Americans! (10/28/2006 1:34:44 PM)

We do not have much to offer, but I think it is fair to say that when we feel the cause is justified we always pitch in the best we can.  It just gets to be entirely too expensive to move our cannons and catapults around after a while, and our suffering economy can hardly bear the burden at times.  [8D]

*gives our Canadian friends a round of applause, for many things*

As I've stated before, we couldn't ask for a better neighbor or friend.

I thank you, and hope you realise that there are many up here who feel the reverse is true as well.

I just want to see both countries remain sovereign nation-states... because if we get another neocon in office after 2008.......

Please forgive me for the temporary hijack here...

I have a question. If the USA reinstated the draft tomorrow, is Canada still a safe haven for draft dodgers? I have a teenaged son, and I think about things like this.

Yuo did not just ask that?

I don't think so.... I think there's been treaty signed which stipulates that the Canadian government must extradite all draft-dodgers /deserters.

But don't worry.....I hear Venezuela isn't that bad if you have a little cash - and there's no extradition treaty.

Arpig -> RE: A must read for all Canadians & Americans! (10/30/2006 5:48:16 AM)

I am not sure subfever, UtopianRanger might be correct about the treaty, but my understanding of Canada's general policy regarding extradition is that whatever criminal act the person committed in the home country must also be a crime in Canada. For example, in Canada, the age of sexual consent is much lower than in most states, so somebody charged with statuatory rape in a state where the age of consent is 21, would not be extradited from Canada on that charge, unless the stauatorily raped person was also underage in Canada.
Given that general policy, I would hazard a guess that since we have no draft law in Canada, breaking the US draft law would not be considered extraditable in Canada, however, I would do some serious looking into it before sending your boy North.

subfever -> RE: A must read for all Canadians & Americans! (10/30/2006 6:16:06 AM)

Thank you, UR and Arpig, for your comments. I will indeed check this matter out carefully!

Once again to the others here, sorry for the temporary hijack.

SissySean -> RE: A must read for all Canadians & Americans! (10/30/2006 6:10:08 PM)

I really don't want to offend anyone here, but in repsonse to the question about running away to Canada if a draft is in the future. It really bothers me when people live under the freedoms of the USA, take advantage of everything offered to them but when they are asked to protect or defend their country or, since we are the most powerful country in the world, when we  defend those who can't defend themselves, they refuse and RUN. You can't have it both ways.  You are either an American or not.
Again, sorry if I offened anyone but this is something that is important to me.

Though I may not agree with the ideal Sean I applaude the delivery of your message.
