Don't know if it will work but it's a start, I'm all for it. To the one who posted about the "give us your tired, poor etc..." How about we change it to, "Give us your tired, your poor who will work and be a useful part of society".

Popeye: In regards to Rick Perry & the "Mark Foley Problem" ... errrr hadn't heard that lil piece, not even an intimation of it in any mud slingin' political ads, so ... ?? Yes, Kinky Friedman is one & the same as "Kinky Friedman & the Texas Jewboys". There seems to be a pretty dayumed good chance he will will; he's #2 in the polls right now & fondly points to Jesse Ventura who was at the same point one wk before he won the governorship of MN! :-) Voters are lining up in record numbers at the early voting polls. So, yes, Kinky has a real chance in this thing!

Let's be real clear about something ... I don't believe anyone here is abdicating closing the borders to LEGAL immigration. My ancestors were immigrants. But they were documented & contributed via taxes out of their paychecks which went not only to the fed/state govmt but to local school systems as well. The problem is with the ILLEGAL UNDOCUMENTED workers - period. I don't care what country they're from, they're here ILLEGALLY. My ancestors & all those that the Statue of Liberty represented when built & represents today, come to this country & become LEGAL DOCUMENTED imigrants & contribute taxes withheld from paychecks! The illegal immigrants do not receive a typical paycheck; it's all under the table; there are no taxes withheld, yet their children are in our public schools which is funded by taxes ... etc, etc.

The only thing that we need to control is the intake rate. Screening is an issue too. Those are the only reasons I would personally plead with possible/current illegals to go the legal route. If they don't, however, I'm not going to turn my back on them. They're humans too, and should be treated as such... Anyway, if we need cheap labor to do it we could always hire a couple of Mexicans to do it for $1.50/h

And as for screening yes, it's becomming a very serious problem medically! Mumps outbreaks in the mid-west, Leprosey now in the N.E., 8,000 cases!!! Then there's T.B. making a come back. If the third world is sneaking into the West we're going to have third world diseases. Ask any Doctor. A lot of people are beginning to talk about taking a 10-15 year break on all immigration, "refugee", and "asylum" programs until we can get all the illegals out of the country. I think some people on the left "feel sorry" for them. That's all well and good but if they do how come they have so much trouble finding their checkbooks but have no problem using O.P.M. (Other People's Money) like Taxpayer dollars to help them. The fault lies not with The American People but with those people's governments and home countries. The West has been involved in "foreign aid" for the last 50 some years and it's very obvious to everyone now that it just doesn't work as virtually all the money is stolen.

Great site! "KF" as they call him wants to impose $25,000 & $50,000 fines on companies who hire illegals. Now we're talking! And he's going to put 10,000 Texas Nat. Guard Troops along Texas' border with Mexico instead of 1,500. I made a donation to his campaign of $25. It would be fun to watch the changes he wants to make! And the site said he wants to have state funded healthcare for every citizen in Texas. I really hope he wins!
