A nice girl wouldn't even have read that part. I think you'd better get over somebody's lap and seek reconciliation.

Or at least kneel down and perform a good act of contrition.

Another esteemed fellow-poster whose superior knowledge and experience I will recognize and defer to (but not, in prudence, you know, actually bow.)

This all reminds me of that great old LDS love song Boney Maroni

I think that, like one's will, if it exists, it is not something which can be "possessed."

But we can atill make nice empty romantic expressions about owning and sharing souls.

Do you think that its empty because you can't actually hold it, or because you can't actually own it for some reason?

Because it can't actually be "owned."

Like the "gift" sentiments- it's very sweet and yummy and pretty...but ultimately meaningless and empty except for the yummy happy feelings you get when saying it.

At the risk of cooperating with an effort to get back on topic ...

Point taken, LA. I mean if your point it that soul-talk intended to convey literal, scientistic truth is of limited value. WAY limited. But being empty of that is different from being Empty as it seems to me. Or else every work of fiction is just a pack of lies.

The familiar expression "sell your soul" does seem to get some work done. Why else would it appear in so many languages and persist so long? Robert Johnson went down to the crossroads and bartered his soul for some never-equalled guitar mojo, the story goes. And of course we have all those Faust stories and the uncounted references to them throughout literature--Western literature anyway. And I honestly have no idea here but I'd be a little surprised if no trace of it appears in somewhere like the Upanishads.

Is anybody up on this? I'd love to know the date when Easterners started selling their souls in literature.

This idea of selling your soul, however poetically or metaphorically it must be taken, seems to ring true generation after generation, seems to align with something sprinkled liberally across the human condition (i.e. not just the law schools.)

I won't delve here into attempts to portray what this aspect of the human condition might be. Listening to Mr. Johnson or reading Goethe (for instance) would surely be a much better investment of your time than whatever I could offer. I will propose that it might be worthwhile to use the notion--fanciful or not--of soul-assignment as a tool with which to explore the Ds dynamic.

I hope more people will take the OP with a degree of seriousness absent in my own previous responses.

What is it that we are we talking about when we are talking about this stuff? Is this a worthwhile way to talk? How so? What insights has it resulted in for you? What light has it shed? What emotions has it stirred, or quelled? What scenes has it inspired?

I suppose that it is utterly dispensable (the soul talk) and to some people that would equate to worthlessness but I don't make that equation so readily. In fact I suspect that any particular way we have of getting at anything verbally is dispensable insofar as there seem always to be alternative ways for language to latch on to a topic.

Some of the non-facetious posts above (like yours, LA) have already made good contributions here. I hope the thread goes on.

Do You own Your slave's soul as well as her body?

Well, I read this post several hours ago and have tried to respond to it three times. Each time it turned into a stream of consciousness without having a substantive answer which satisfied even me. I don't know that one exists. I read my own profile and take this from that:

"He is not my Earth and air. He is just a man but because of him the air is sweeter and the Earth more tolerable a place to be."

I don't know if a soul can be owned, if it can be gifted, if it can be taken or sold ... but I do know that his disapproval will cause me to reflect and change my actions, his saddness brings forth my compassion, his happiness makes me smile, his suffering breaks my heart. If these 'feelings' are, indeed, part of my soul.. then I would say, he may not own it.. it's not a tangible, touchable thing ... but he certainly affects it, more so than anyone else.

Angel has said that he will be truly owned when someone possesses him mind, body, heart and soul. Since he counts himself completely owned by me, I suppose that means that I do.

You own body and mind, emotions, not souls. Dont go there. Its stupid. you cannot own someone's immortal soul nor would you want to. It cant be gifted either or sold.

I don't believe anyone can own your soul, the body is just a temporary housing for it. Yes the body can be owned but not the soul. At least in my opinion. If someone says they can own your soul, to me that is saying they are God/dess, I'd like to see them prove it.

My thoughts exactly.

What I want to know is who gets the body and soul if the relationship ends?  Does the master give it back?  Or is it his to keep?

nope, don't think anyone can own a soul...

BUt!  if we're talking about something akin to "selling your soul"..  that would be.. giving up ones future to make a short term gain, right?  In that case, if i tried to sell or give my soul to Master, He'd take unbrage.

"Say again??  you want to give Me something in trade to get something you think you need, for a short time, deprriving me of long term use of you in a slave capacity?  Go to your room."

Beautiful expression.  This thought of being affected in the soul...the soul belly...for some, affects them in their (referenced as) "spiritual depths"...even the darkened abyss of where some say their darker soul portions reside...perhaps even  a "doppleganger" of sorts(?)... there are no answers from me, only more thought and questions...*smile  i find myself pondering on the same thoughts at times.  So just to share that there may be those who come exceedingly close to providing that feeling and inspiration of being completely owned even to the minutia of the soul ...if what one may feel is indeed, "soul owned" and it works for them...then i will not question the journey, but rather choose to relish the end result.  i have yet to meet anyone who has brought me to that type of soul owned inspiration...some have indeed come exceedingly close though..*.grins  "Inspiration" is the word this thread ignites in my own soul belly...today...*smile
Enjoyed reading the facetious (Noah comes to mind) **weg** as well as the supporting posts on this thread *grin

I have given my Master my heart. mind and body.  My soul nope that belongs to God.  I believe 2 can be soul mates but they feel in their soul they belong to each other, but their souls (if they believe in God) belong to God.

What is the soul? An immaterial part of us that is our life force, or the temporal union of our moral and emotional selves? If one asking the question means more the latter, I will always answer with an emphatic yes. It is important to own the soul, or greater sum of your slave. To do so is in fact a crucial element in making a slave. Love and fortune or the desire for them in the hearts of men would attest to that with a whisper, if they could whsiper.

As for immortal energy that contains our essence and outlives the flesh, I'd like to think I own that as well, but that is entirely theoretical. We'll all find out, eventually. If it is possible, one thing I can certainly say is eternity is a long time to think about.

All soul-owners-by-proxy, please report to the rapture station.  There has been a mass recall.   Apropos it'll be on Nov. 1st,  All Saints Day.

i was just having an odd conversation with someone, about selling your soul. And it occurred to me that i don't know if my soul actually belongs to me.

My Master is unavailable for input at the moment, so  i thought i would ask Y'all.

Do You own Your slave's soul as well as her body?

In the way that you have posed the question, no, I don't believe that you can 'give' or 'sell' your soul to an owner.

However, I do believe that we each have a soul mate, and that when they meet, they become one.

In my own relationships though, that kind of deep bonding is not necessary for me, nor is it expected.

So, in regards to the one who owns me; no, he does not have my soul, nor will he ever. He may have access to my emotions, to my mental thinking, to my physcial being; but not to my soul.
