I've made up my mind to get a tattoo, but cant decide what to get.  I want something small. Any suggestions would be helpful.

Not a rose, triskellion, yin yang, dragon, butterfly, wings, or dice.

Perhaps a letter of the greek alphabet which holds special meaning to you done in a specialized color and script?

I like the tribal tatoos, oriental lettering,. ICHING, or a rune.

I don't have any tattoos so mabyeim not one who knows what i'm talking about...but i suggest you get something that describes either a phase in your life...something you love...mabye somethink kink related...or something that you want to tell the world about you.

Something that has specail meaning to you.

You have the word heart in your name perhaps incorprate that into your tattoo.

Am planning to decide on a tat myself in the near future so was glad to see this thread.  LA butterflies do have significance for me but i will take it under advisement that they are over used lol.  Am thinking a horse or dolphin.  Horse because i find peace riding and dolphins are the angels of the sea.  Not sure tho so hope other suggestions are made for julio and i can swipe them lol.

Your astrological symbol, if it has meaning to you... any animal you feel particularly fond of or in tune with... anything that reflects your heritage (ie a celtic knot or viking rune).. anything that you feel particularly reflects the phase of your life that you are in right now... a symbol from your religious beliefs (if any)... pick up a book on the language of flowers and choose one that has a special meaning to you- forget-me-not, white birch (I waited for you), snow drop (please have hope), Forsythia (Your dreams will come true) crysanthemum (an honest person).

My first tattoo was a biohazard symbol morphed into a star. I've never seen anything like it and it means a whole lot to me. Just make sure that it's something that will make you happy every time you look at it.

I am also planning on having art put on my body.  I have a son who is very artistic and he is creating the art I will use.  It will have his and his sisters initials incorporated in stars and a sun as my kids are my sun and star.

I had thought long and hard about a tat I love Lions and I collect them in all forms (except live)  I thought about having a lion as a tat however it would need to be larger than I want.

The other important thing to think of is where you want to have it put.  You dont want it to be so droopy in a few years you cant recognize it.  Do you want it where you can see it at anytime or somewhere hidden where only you know it is and you need a mirror to see it.  Do you want it visible to anyone at anytime.

Lots of thoughts to ponder and decisions to make.

Keep us posted as to what you decide, I would love to hear and see a pic when you finally take the plunge

Oh, yes I forgot to add... whatever you do, DON'T get something from the flash art they have up on the walls. Make sure your tattoo is designed specifically FOR YOU. That way, you know that it is special and unique.

I'd show y'all a pic of my tats but umm.. I think it would be against TOS. [:D]

I always tell people considering it to really think HARD about it.....and don't let yourself be overly influenced because you're surrounded by folks touting them

Two ladies from these forums that I know very well, both deeply regret their tats and are in the process of having them removed.

Me personally.....besides being in a business climate, I'd be ostracized from the ''will'' if I came home with one.

Just make sure you want it there everyday forever..lol.. that's the main thing.
 
There is nothing wrong with butterflies if they have meaning for you.  I had one designed specifically for me, in memory of my grandmother, it's visible in my pics.  I don't think it's common at all, and since it's special to me.. I don't really care.
 
Anything will work, just make it special for you.  I have the butterfly..and a rose with a butterfly..and a chinese symbol for something special in my life.. it's all in what you want, so express yourself in it.
 
(yes, butterflies are my signature..lol.. most know that though..they will be put in my mark from Master also, but they are what's important to me and I always have them drawn, not from a stamp on the wall)
