Status: offline 		John Kerry to apologize for a comment critics said appeared disrespectful of U.S. troops as several Kerry campaign appearances were canceled.

At issue is Kerry's comment, to a group of California students on Monday, that people unable to succeed in the U.S. educational system would likely "get stuck in Iraq." Kerry says he merely botched a speech line written to be critical of Bush, while Republicans seized on it as evidence of troop-bashing by the Democratic party's 2004 presidential
nominee.

Yes  I think what he said was right! But He should have said  it a little differently.

Yes Kerry should, i am sure many of us have family,and friends who are serving in todays services and yes some of you have family and friends who are over seas. To slam on our brave men and woman who are over there is just wrong.,
Now do i think he need to apologize to Bush hell know it is because him and daddy dearest we are involved in this mess.
but you dont berate the men and woman who are strong enough to stand and fight they are doing what they think they need to and what is right for them

I think Kerry should apologize for being a politician - quickly followed by every other member of Congress, the President, his administration, the bureaucrats, etc.

Then line them up, shoot off their pinkie toe, make the men wear tutus and the women wear funny mustaches and glasses, and make them all sing "I'm a little Teapot"

I know, I have a cruel-streak ;-)

Status: offline 		I most assuradly think that Kerry should appologize.  What he said was a major affront to all miliary personnel regardless of his intent.   If he wants to blast Bush, then go ahead.   But to blast the soldiers and call it Bush Bashing, is just unforgiveable.

I do not like the current Republicans and while I am not a Kerry fan it seem quite clear to me that the comment was a Bush/Cheny warhawk rant and not directed at the troops, but I know nobody who dissagrees thinks that and I am not going to  convert anyone and no one is going to convert me. To me it was pretty obvious it was just the same thing that has pissed him off since 2004. Here he went to Vietnam and was in enough action that his life was on the line no matter how you interpet his medals, and Bush avoided Vietnam and pretty much unitl his forties coasted through life. Both have lived a life of priveledge but Kerry at least has seen and done some everyday man things and to think people jump to think he would intentionally rip troops saddens me. Are really any politicians or any other human beings that stupid? And if Kerry owes an apology doesn't Bush offer an apology to all the troops and members of the familes of soldiers that were killed for lying about the reason to go to war?

Again this is all political lines and the guy I do not like is evil stuff.

Status: offline 		No , when Bush apologizes to Kerry for the Swift Boat Lying Committee & to Max Cleland for smearing a man who lost three limbs in the military,  and to the American people for not doing his duty when he was hiding in Texas, then Kerry can consider it.

Has nothing to do with the mision.  Has to do witht he educational status of the members of the military - essentially calling them dumb because they don't have college degrees.   In his appology he stated

Status: offline 		Since the poor bastards are dying in Iraq due to Bush's lies and incompetence and have thrown their lives away for nothing, I think that is a FAR bigger problem than Kerry's stupid remark.

Bush invaded the wrong country, with the wrong amount of troops, with the wrong goals, and the wrong plan.

But you want to ding Kerry for poorly wording concern for the troops?

Hey Crappy   Glad we agree that Kerry's remark was stupid.  After all that is what the thread is about, not whether being in Iraq is right or wrong.

Ken, and a lot of people working at Starbucks behind the counter serving coffee are college educated as well.
Having a "degree" in this global economy isn't what it used to be 30 years ago.
Degrees are about a dime a ton these days- cheap paper that's increasingly expensive to get but maybe we should start another thread on that.
Comming from Massachusetts I'm used to being embarrassed by the two senators.
Anytime I'd move to another state I'd tell people I was from New Hampshire.
Between Kerry and Fat Boy Kennedy they've got about 80 years in the senate I think- a good ad for term limits!
And they're both spoiled rich kids one from a crime family.

Wasn't a minor insult to me, but maybe that is a matter of perception.   Now what I want to know is how you intend to force me to shut up?   I thought I was entitled to my thoughts and opinions on what he said (which had nothing to do with being in Iraq is right or wrong but was about the individuals who serve)
