Thanks for posting this. If it were not making hay about nothing the republicans would have nothing

servantforuse -> RE: Understanding What Kerry Said (11/2/2006 8:20:23 AM)

Kerry has despised the military for 30 + years. He knew what he was saying and ment every word of it. i for one am very glad that he lost that election and is not our President and Commander and Chief....

popeye1250 -> RE: Understanding What Kerry Said (11/2/2006 8:49:34 AM)

And he can say it in French too!
Being a native of Massachusetts it's beyond me why anyone in their right mind would even consider this gigolo as "Presidential Material."
He has all the attributes that you DON'T want in a President.

pahunkboy -> RE: Understanding What Kerry Said (11/2/2006 9:53:04 AM)

Kerry is right.

The educated have more opportunity in society.

He owes no apoligy.

LotusSong -> RE: Understanding What Kerry Said (11/2/2006 12:32:10 PM)

Well now.. the Republicans will grab at anything they can as they go down.  Get ready for the "Mom, Country and Apple Pie" platform they drag out as their last resort.

Chaingang -> RE: Understanding What Kerry Said (11/2/2006 1:08:16 PM)

I don't care for Kerry either, but as compared to chimpy he's golden.

I just don't see a former vet making comments of the type suggested by the GOP. And of course it seems plain that taken in context he was talking about the prez, etc. I find it hilarious how they miss the point of the comment.

But as I recall Kerry voted for the war, so I don't have that much invested in this issue. I just think it's interesting that the comment is big news considering it's really just trash talking on both sides.

Chain, that's like saying a broken arm is better than a broken leg!

Two days ago; "I appologise to no-one!"  -John Kerry-
Yesterday; "I appologise to ANYONE who might have been offended by my remark."  -John Kerry-
Isn't that a "flip flop?"

Really, for you guys who aren't from Massachusetts, this guy (Kerry) is a fuckin' BOOB!
He blows with the wind.

Chaingang -> RE: Understanding What Kerry Said (11/2/2006 2:04:07 PM)

Not quite a flip-flop, he's trying to be polite to people who can't understand what they hear or who might have misunderstood him for whatever reason. Paraphrase: "I'm sorry if you were offended, but you took it the wrong way."

The whole flip-flop thing is, of course, partisan nonsense. I would hope that anyone in a leadership position would be big enough to recognize an error, correct for it, and move forward.

Everything chimpy has said and done has been predicated on a string of lies. Does saying one thing and meaning another count as a flip-flop or just as being wholly unethical?

Sort of a highjack ... but which politicians do you actually like?

Caitlyn, not a lot of them.
I don't like "career" politicians for sure!
Look at Kennedy, he's got 44 years in the senate and he's holding on for dear life to that seat. When is enough enough?
That's the thing about the Kennedys, they think they're "entitled".
That said I didn't vote for nor do I care for Bush either.
Another rich kid ner' do well.
I'd like to see some *new faces* running for public office that want to go to work to protect the interests of the taxpayers and not cowtow to big business "interests."
No more rich kids, no more lawyers, no more democrats, no more republicans.

Not really. You see, the only one who SHOULD HAVE been offended, was Bush. Kerry called Bush stupid.

That's the beginning and end of what Kerry said.

Now, those who CHOOSE to misinterpert Kerry's words can't be helped. They made their choice to put their PARTY over ACCOUNTABLILTIY for 3000 dead GIs...

Fargle, Kerry made no mention of Bush. Only of getting stuck in Iraq if you're not smart which most people took to mean our Troops.
How "smart" can HE be if BUSH got better marks than he did at Yale???

Foxer55 -> RE: Understanding What Kerry Said (11/2/2006 4:45:08 PM)

Popeye,

quote:

Yesterday; "I appologise to ANYONE who might have been offended by my remark."  -John Kerry-

Translation:  You people are too fucking stupid to understand my superior sense of humor.

Correct apology:  I apologize for my inconsiderate comment.

Foxer

I disagree.  Try and parse Bush into Kerry's "mangled joke":

"Education, if you make the most of it, if you study hard and you do your homework, and you make an effort to be smart, you can do well. If you don’t, you [may become a president who get’s our country] stuck in Iraq".

I mean, honestly.  It doesn't pass the smell test to me.  Plus Kerry has a long history of disparaging the troops.

juliaoceania -> RE: Understanding What Kerry Said (11/3/2006 12:01:15 AM)

The thing that most disgusts me about this is that we have a country with really bad problems and people are making THIS more important than our soaring deficit and the war in Iraq... Kerry is not even running for office for crying out loud!

saskslave -> RE: Understanding What Kerry Said (11/3/2006 12:11:04 AM)

Um, the deficit is not soaring; it is dropping.

meatcleaver -> RE: Understanding What Kerry Said (11/3/2006 12:12:35 AM)

What part of Kerry's statement is wrong?

If you are stupid you do end up in Iraq. Wrong war, wrong enemy, wrong country. If anyone needs to apologize for anything  it is Bush, for the blind leading the blind.

I'll attempt to answer your credible question. [8|]

A:  The part where he called the volunteer military a bunch of uneducated idiots.
