In september, i have the chance of going to the US for a couple of months to study. I have a choice of a few uni's, and I was wondering which of these states you good people think are worth a visit? My choices are:
-North Carolina
-Indiana
-Ohio
-Virginia
-California
-Maine
-Oregon

Hi Littleone....

As a native Californian who now lives in the great state of Oregon, I would tell you that unless you are really into outdoor activities {ski, kayak, climb, bike, hike, etc} I'd stay away from Oregon in November /Dec. Depending upon what part of the state you are in.....it's likely to be either cold or very wet, and many times both. Oregon is truly an ‘’outdoors’’ state.

And don't get me wrong.....Cali is great, but if you are going there to study it's an especially easy place to become distracted because the weather is nice and there’s always alot to do.

I like the rich history /traditions of east coast academia, so if I was in your shoes I'd be thinking about places like Chapel Hill.

Best wishes to you.

You know; Canada often behaves like a state but has way less Americans in it. It's the big placeto the north of all the madness and we have geography coming out our yin yangs. I'd recommend U Vic, except we don't get much snow in Victoria which, believe me after a lifetime on the praire, is a blessing.

San Diego is lovely, but it's 500 miles to the nearest city worth seeing.

Hello A/all,

I drive infrequently down to work in Sandy Eggo.  It is a relatively nice town and is more set up with things to do in a reasonable distance from UCSD.  If you do not have a car, though, I would suggest going some place that has a rapid transit system in place.  Los Angeles is proceeding with building one at a glacial pace, and while Sandy Eggo is a bit more advanced, Southern California cities do tend to lag behind.

Although I might like Southern California because I can work on my tan in January and play beach volleyball with thong wearing female hotties.

Just me, etc.

Sinergy
