NEW YORK - Air America Radio, the liberal talk and news radio network that features the comedian Al Franken, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection on Friday, but will stay on the air while it reorganizes with funding from its investor group.

And the point to this link is? I thought we where talking about the truth. What about the truth? How does it hurt? Anyhow, just refering to the title, "The truth shall set you free" Some find comfort in living a lie but one will never grow and be stronger without the truth. Think of the truth as Tuff Love.

If you're going to have a title, can you make it realivant to whatever links or messages you send?

After they went bankrupt all the people who listened got together to try to save it. The all got in a Volkswagen 'Jetta', running on methane generated by waste from Al Frankin's personal AA toilet, met at a Hotel 5 (Hotel 6 too expensive) and tried to figure out what went wrong. They brought in Art Bell as a consultant, and he said the problem was the conspiracy theories they discussed were just not as realistic as those on his show. I hear they are planning on running some fund raisers; a Tom Dean yell-off where they'll sell John Kerry 'flip flop flap jacks'.

Maybe that was the purpose of the thread - to send fund raising suggestions?

I think the problem was there is left wing political radio - NPR. With a change in congress, I'm sure they'll find cause to raise another tax so AA can survive. Hell, it may even become law to have to listen a minimum hour a day. It will never be the result of a democratic vote. The people never realize whats good for them. They need legislators and judges to tell them. I'm sure AA qualifies similarly to helmets on bikes/MC, playing tag in school, smoking, car seats, soda in school, bi-lingual signs, etc...

Everybody has their troubles.  So wht if Al was a comedian.. Reagan was a B actor.   The link remains and the truth stays the same. I'm sure they will make it.

Al Franken is an intelligent enough individual.. unfortunately he's always had the personality of a shoe horn.

     If they brought Art Bell in, and were willing to listen to him, they might have a chance.  He understands that the first function of a talk radio host is to keep truck drivers awake between commercials for sleep number beds. 

     Air America doesn't suck because of their point of view, it sucks because they aren't entertaining.

LOL, Air America. It's True it does hurt. I tried listening.

I agree radio is all about entertainment, one can disagree whether it should be or not but that is what it is. Fox is entertainment for certain folks, and Air America is less well produced entertainment for other folks thus the reason they are failing. They both mix in a bit of truth to the mix. Neither is more truthful in humble opinion.

The conservative talking heads are just preaching to the choir, they aren't interested in thinking. That's why their audience is so large, an over abundance of morons

I like Randi Rhodes (spelling?) My mom listens to her and when we are in the car I sometimes catch a bit or two...

I do not like rhetoric from either side like usually is spewed though... two hates don't a love make...


Basically talk radio panders to the lowest common denominator, which is why it is best left to the Right Wing Whack Jobs, like Rush and Hannity....

I don't have any problems with Air America.  I don't have any problems with Rush et al.

What I have a problem with is when someone takes a superior and belittling attitude simply because the success of one side or the other isn't what they want it to be.

Free markets have a reason.  Calling people "morons" and saying your opposition is "pandering to the lowest common denominator" are highly negative things, and point to an attitude of superiority that turns off a lot of people, even ones who would be more than willing to listen, and debate with you.

Just me, could be wrong, etc, etc,

I've watched and read a lot of your post, seeing as we are basically "neighbors", but never addressed you directly.

Some people are superior, we're not all equal. It's only unconstitutional for the governmet to promote inequality. There is no shortage of idiots, i'll label mine, you label yours. I learned many years ago not to argue with fools, it only pulls you down to their level.

Hell....I can’t believe Limbo has lasted as long as he has. The people that call into the show and listen daily are robotic and pre-programmed - listen to them call-in sometime. The only thing good about his show is the parodies....and they're genuinely funny. But the political content speaks to true ideologues and those who are truly brainwashed. They don’t believe in such a thing as right vs. wrong; only left vs. right.

Talk radio panders to the lowest common denominator... not a "side" of talk radio... and I do not know that I have ever called anyone a moron on this board... perhaps I am suffering memory loss.

And yes I consider Rush a whack job... you can have a problem with that all you like, it is not going to change my opinion of him and his ilk.
