like i said before...i "DID" make up my mind, i chose not to fall prey to what everyone else does and blindly go "do my patriotic duty" and vote for the idiots that happen to pay for their spot on the road to the White House...let's see a poor person become President and see if things change

i highly dount it would because the rich people of this country have everyone so fooled that "their vote counts"

it's whoever paid the most that gets in...and that's the hidden truth of this "wonderul country of ours"

How many of you wonderful "Americans" would go to Iraq leaving your families behind for your country?? I wouldn't that's for damn sure...

I'm glad my freedom is not based on this attitude.  I am forever grateful to every veteran past and present, many in my family - who served the citizens of this country - in the past and now, regardless of whether I or they agreed with the military operation, they did their job.

Voted via absentee ballot.  Here in Washington state the majority of voters do it that way.

As to blindly voting...Never have.  You can't make an informed choice if you don't know, and understand, what you are voting for, both in the short and long term.  The alternative passing bad intitatives and electing bad politicians.  (eg.  some intiatives and propositions in Washington, Oregon, and California.)

Basically, if you don't use your voice, you wishes will go unheard.  You may not get what you want, but you have spoken and not let other's decide your fate for you.  We see that all the time in regards to alternative lifestyles.  A vocal minority trumps a silent majority every time.

I voted, Libertarian as I have for the last 20 years.  Some say my vote doesn't count if I don;t vote either Dem or Rep, but I say my vote counts to ME.  I vote what I believe, and not for the lesser of two evils.

Good job, GB.    That's awesome...  you voted and that's what really matters here.  (at least on this thread...)

Exactly, there are many ways to gather the facts. Just have to get off your lazy ass and do it.

I voted today, and yes, there are some "lesser of 2 evils" choices to make, but I would rather have the lesser, thank you very much.  And there actually ARE some good men and women running for office; maybe if people who care make the effort to vote, those people would be elected and the major party money wouldn't matter so much.

If you cannot stomach the thought of voting for the candidates, at least vote on ballot initiatives if you have them.  Here in NV, we had no less than 11, some of which could make a BIG difference in my wallet (and conscience) over the coming years.

To simplify for those who cannot figure it out, remember the story of Horton Hears a Who - if we all shout collectively "WE ARE HERE! WE ARE HERE! WE ARE HERE!" maybe the big elephants in Washington and in our state capitals will hear us.  But, if only a handful cry out, we will all be doomed.

Sorry but I have more important things to do than sit and watch one politician tell us how bad the other is..one lie after another...you are all fools (Americans) if you believe voting you are choosing a very honest fair person to represent you.....Why am I so horrible because I choose not to vote? How about in the Bible where it tells us to have children and multiply the Earth..are you women who choose not to have children doing something wrong??? Look at yourself and all your flaws before you judge another.

Right on, Bluebird.  My main concern here was for the intiative and how one would ruin the state, economically.

JK72 -

You aren't horrible for not voting, however, there are people here and there who believe that it is irresponsible to have made that choice.  It is our choice, to which we are entitled, the same as you are entitled to yours.  No difference there.

However, the things that you are throwing out for public consumption on the boards tonight make my head spin, as - in my humble opinion - they don't make much sense.  It reminds me of a caged animal that is trying to defend itself from being poked at with a stick, so to speak, it just goes wild without thinking.  I am a Christian, and know the Bible pretty well, but bringing it up in this context just makes people who follow the faith look like they have a screw loose.  It doesn't equate, no matter what spin you put on it.  Just me, YMMV...

(Also, be careful of trying to shelter those who constantly throw themselves out in the fray.  It doesn't make you a hero, it just makes you a pawn in their game.  Trust me, many people before you have been there.)

EXCUSE ME....

STOP making blanket statements, you do NOT know EVERY person running for office.

I am NOT a fool for going out to vote today and neither is anyone else!

  • and what about those who are not able to bear children?
  • and what about those who breed every nine months and stay home in bed and live off those who go out to work and vote and support the economy?

Politicians are not really any more dishonest than anybody else.  Their job is to get as much for their constituients as they can and to retain their jobs.
Translate that into the business world.  The business person must do things to increase the fortunes of the stock holders.  This means injuring competitors in some manner to gain market share.
Now, also throw in the concept that a politician retains his/her job by pleasing the people who vote for them.  So they pander to their constituients beliefs, intelligence (or lack thereof), prejudices and fears.  Also, to bring "bring home the bacon" a politician has to be flexible.
Yes, there are corrupt politicians.  There are corrupt bankers, doctors, store clerks, teachers, garbage handlers, etc.  Pick a profession and you will find corruption and illegal activities among a percentage of their members.
The big difference is if a politician does some illegal, immoral, or unsafe the event/attitude/activity is splashes all over the news.  The more well known you are, the more heinous the crime seems.  If anybody here had gotten drunk, got pulled over by the police and stated making antisemitic statements, would they  have gotten international attention for it?
