I saw a tv programme the other night where a Dom was using what I think was a violet wand.  It looked like it was setting the female's skin on fire (the sort of flame you get after you light a christmas pud).

Can someone tell me exactly what one is?  How it works?  Does it hurt? and more importantly how it does make people feel?

Thank you

to me it feels creepy...I dont like them..

Imagine having ants crawling up your arm and each foot is a needle..I suppose you can set it to different settings where the ants are just walking nicely, dancing, or marching.. and much higher intensity. Thats the closest I can come to explaining what it feels like.

Hi there...I have gotten into electroplay lately and happen to love the Violet Wand and also the Tens Unit.  There are a few good websites you can google to find out what it is.   Wikipedia even has something on it.  The frequency the Wand is set at and the type of glass electrode used, make all the difference in the world.  As does scening with someone that really knows how to use them and truly understands electricity.  A newbie should not operate one.  But I know we all have to start somewhere.

I really love how the Wand relaxes me.  Once you let yourself go and just go with the flow you can enjoy the sensation.  If you are too nervous, you won't.  It does make some scary noises, and it can zap you if that is the intent.  But he uses it to stimulate me not to zap me.  It feels tingly, kind of a little like static electricity but not uncomfortable at all.  Done right it can be a big turn on as well.  He tends to use the big bulb on me, though I have also tried the rake, the talons, and he has some kind of adaptor where it comes from his fingertips as well.  The ones I find to be the most sensual are the bulb and his fingertips.

Some people can do fire play and branding with it, but that is not an interest of ours at all.  I just love the stimulation and the smell of the ozone.....and the play of his fingertips close to my skin.  Very erotic.

Thank you for starting this thread.  I didn't know Tesla invented it, though it does make sense when you think about it.  Kind of funny also since I just saw the movie The Prestige this past weekend.

Oh.....it can burn you if done incorrectly.  The mushroom is a smaller surface so the intensity is higher.  The bulb has a much larger surface so the intensity is lower.  Distance of the glass electrode to the surface it is connected to make a difference as well.    That is why you have to really know what you are doing when you operate one.   Never try it out with some guy you meet at a party or anywhere for that matter that says "Hey...I just got this great toy....seems like it might be fun."  Never be a guinea pig.

It sounds like what you saw, was a combination of electric play with a violet wand and fireplay with flash cotton, such as this http://www.vikingmagiccompany.com/?nd=full&key=231. The wand is used to ignite the cotton, the visual effect is much more intense than what is actually happening, as the heat goes up, not down. The flash cotton by the way is the same material used in many magic tricks. The violet wand itself could cause burning by itself, but you would have to be very careless (versus careful) and I don't see how it would have a visible flame. I have heard of using rubbing alcohol in conjunction with a wand, to get some sort of a flame effect, but I've never seen it and it doesn't sound very safe...but that's just my opinion. Bottom line; I'd suspect what you saw was flash cotton being ignited with a wand.

I like playing with the wand - I tend not to use the glass ware much and have an interesting collection of metalwork, tinsel and floggers.  Dont forget to include hands etc :)

I'm in Arizona, i would be more than happy to experiment on you.  *chucklez*

Thorns bought me this wonderfull metal box FULL of  all kinds of  awesome zappy things that can be attached to the Violet Wand.  I prefer the wheel.  It makes you feel like your being cut.  purrrrzzzzzzz

(ok, as much entertainment i got out of that....Thorns would veto that in a heartbeat)  lol

Happy Friday...

i attended a Kink carnival recently, and got to watch a violet wand demonstration.  It was creepy because you could see sparks shooting out from it and hear the crackle of electricity.  However, the Dom then offered to give those who were interested, a sample.  i must say, i loved it!  i'm assuming he probably had the intensity quite low, but still, it was a wonderful sensation of a thousand gentle little prickles all over my skin.

Now i'm thinking about getting one for my Master for Christmas.  Or is that really more for me?  Hmmm.  Gotta watch myself on that one.

Yes, the tinsel and the wheel are pretty intense when using the Wand.  I enjoy those as well, but those are more extreme sensations than the lighter stuff.  But enjoyable no less.  My tolerance levels vary during  play, so at times some things are more appropriate than others.  Some things feel like a light scratching as well.  Just all depends on what is used and the frequency.   I think the thing that mainly drives me wild are his fingertips.  Just a matter of personal prefence, plus tolerance levels change over time anyway.

I've been known to call it the violent wand, heh.  Personally I can't stand the smell!!!  But I'll tell ya, being blindfolded and hearing the buzzing zapping noise coming at you....it's a bit intimidating :)

Maybe thats why I didnt like it so much.. he was just showing me what it was like outside the context of play and it was someone I had just met and was not totally comfortable with anyways..(not a red flag uncomfortable..just not familiar enough comfortable)

Really?  The ozone smell gets me totally turned on.

I'll share that my fave thing with the wand is french kissing someone and going down on them while I become the conductor.

Most likely what you saw was a violet wand being used in conjunction with alcohol. I enjoy the combination of the two immensely!

i love the wand.  to me it doesn't hurt at all it just tingles all over. the only problem is that i just can't stop laughing. i must have a high tolerance for it though because the dom who was playing me said he tried even using the bare tip, turned up all the way and i never felt real pain (even on my clit).  he said that was unusual though.  if you have a chance try it!  its what i'm asking santa for for christmas.
