Say if by some enourmous fluke you became President of the United States in 2008.
What would you do?
What would you change, what would you keep?

michaelOfGeorgia -> RE: "If I were the President I'd....." (11/11/2006 10:25:08 AM)

i'd make all medical, optical and dental expenses covered by Medicare/Medicaid.

subjected2006 -> RE: "If I were the President I'd....." (11/11/2006 10:36:58 AM)

Yes then you would get exactly what you paid for...think about it

subjected2006 -> RE: "If I were the President I'd....." (11/11/2006 10:43:23 AM)

I would make an unbiased politics course mandatory in every school
and if you did not own property you could not vote on anything that effects those that do
and there would be a law that forbids ANY partiality to ANYONE..if the person wasnt up to snuff then they dont get the  job,,or grant..or the tax break ..

Level -> RE: "If I were the President I'd....." (11/11/2006 11:25:32 AM)

  1. I'd go on TV and explain the coming crisis involving entitlements, and work like a madman to get our policies aimed at resolving the problems.
  2. We'd simplify the tax code. You can't convince me that we have to have a tax code that won't fit in a New York city phone book.
  3. We'd pass legislation banning frivoulous lawsuits.
  4. We'd pay our "bill" to the UN, and have a come to Jesus meeting with that organization.
  5. I'd go on a world tour in an attempt to repair frayed relationships.
  6. I'd stop off in Monaco and "get to know" Princess Charlotte, ahem.
  7. We'd set new standards for fuel economy, and get independent of the oil barons.
  8. We'd find out where so much of our money has disappeared in Iraq, and in the government in general.
  9. We'd get the line-item veto back, and use it.
  10. I'd go on national tv, on a regular basis, and shame those in government that needed it.
  11. Raise the minimum wage, and give tax cuts to small biz to help them absorb the extra cost.
  12. Look at legislation which would encourage businesses to stop outsourcing so much. Force them to pay the taxes they need to.

There's lots more, but it's a fine day, and nature calls.

sissifytoserve -> RE: "If I were the President I'd....." (11/11/2006 11:36:43 AM)

I would....."Support and defend the constitution of the United States"

That hasn't been true of EITHER Republican or Democrat...and continue to tear it apart every chance they get.

mnottertail -> RE: "If I were the President I'd....." (11/11/2006 11:50:58 AM)

I would look to get my dick sucked alot, and let most legislation languish...........

Let the machine catch up, kinda thing........

Then I would get a rim job and spearhead meaningful National health care.

Then I would get my dick sucked again, and while doing so, ponder ways to get the National Science Foundation and all the other research granting institutions of the US  to figure out how to grant money on the order that Reagan did to Star Wars Technology into  recycling, reusing  and  fossil  fuel alternatives.

At that point, I would probably go back to getting a rim job,  and  clear up the tax code with a sanctified ruthlessness that can only come from a man that has a wonderfully warm and wet tongue buried in his ass.

Then I probably would just get my dick sucked as the lame duck president and build my presidential library in Orgasm, Minnesota.

My name is Ron, and I have approved this message.

     Nuke somebody, just to make the point.
    Restructure the military for world domination.
    Annex Mexico all the way to the Panama Canal.
    Remove all laws against victimless crimes.

(Only one of the above is true)

mnottertail -> RE: "If I were the President I'd....." (11/11/2006 12:57:50 PM)

Oh, yeah, Bearlee........I forgot one thing, I would spend a great deal of time in my second administration resolving the Nigerian/Ghanan question; and of course getting my dick sucked.

Mr. President

philosophy -> RE: "If I were the President I'd....." (11/11/2006 1:01:13 PM)

"if you did not own property you could not vote on anything that effects those that do '

...yup, after all, those poor misunderstood slum landlords need a break.

michaelOfGeorgia -> RE: "If I were the President I'd....." (11/11/2006 1:04:12 PM)

i'd tax the hell out of the rich and distribute the money to the poor, try to make things as close to an even balance as possible.

i'd do away with school uniforms and make school lunches as part of every school day without charge.

i'd also strengthen the laws in this country, making more things harder to get away with. making is possible for things like dash-cams to be a means of enforcing on the spot justice. (meaning, if someone opens fire on someone, deadly force would be allowed.

i'd also call for a cap on medical costs, meaning DRs would have to charge less for service that probably don't cost nearly as much as they think it does.

i'd call for a quicker means of making meds at a lower cost (if generic companies can do it, so can everyone else)

i would also set in motion a the clearing out of "death row"...it's time these people finally paid for their crimes.

(more to come)

topcat -> RE: "If I were the President I'd....." (11/11/2006 1:07:21 PM)

I'd 'draft' Walmart, Old Navy, and Starbucks, and require them to open sites all over Iraq, lending ruthless military support to their security.
We could win their hearts and minds the old fashion way- buy it.

I would require Halibution exectutives and their families to use VA medical care exclusivly.

I'd require every member of the legislature to enlist one of their children in the military as an enlisted soldier to be sent to Iraq.

I would offer the UN full oversight (but not command) of our operations overseas, and respond to thier concerns.

I'd push a 10%, no exemptions, tax code therough congress, holding both the houses sequestered until it passed.

I'd give illegal immigrants 90 days to get on the books, or leave the country, and eliminate quotas.

I'd lay a serious tax on outsourceing labor, raise the minimum wage, and start a CCC type low income home building program.

michaelOfGeorgia -> RE: "If I were the President I'd....." (11/11/2006 1:14:37 PM)

i did think of something else:

i would call for an end to the KKK and other like groups to stop their hate-promotion campaigns or they would be asked to leave this country. there's enough hate in the world without them making matters worse.

i would also make crimes against children to become capital offenses, punishable by death.

mnottertail -> RE: "If I were the President I'd....." (11/11/2006 1:16:42 PM)

Please forward  me a couple sets of their robes tho, if you win, I got some scenes in mind and they could come in handy..............

as long as the embellishments are removed and burned, their all yours

Aileen68 -> RE: "If I were the President I'd....." (11/11/2006 1:22:56 PM)

But Michael...You don't vote.  You aren't even registered.
How can you possibly have an opinion on how and what things you would change.
You gave up that right when you chose not to exercise your right to vote.
Just thought I'd point that out.

michaelOfGeorgia -> RE: "If I were the President I'd....." (11/11/2006 1:27:24 PM)

i have as much right to bitch as everyone else, i was born here and i don't recall voting as a requirement to speak my mind.

and, by the way, it does not specify in the Constitution that Freedom Of Speech is reserved for only those who votes...unless you're reading a different version than i am.

Aileen68 -> RE: "If I were the President I'd....." (11/11/2006 1:30:14 PM)

One of the biggest ways for the common man to make a change is to vote.

I wouldn't worry about it too much.  The ideas wouldn't really pan out anyway, so he'd shortly be as popular as Bush.

I would use the chance to allow flag burners, under the condition they allow the flag, and themselves, to be urinologically extinguished by me.

Yours,

benji
