Status: offline 		It's common sense that opinions and ideals are relative..........but some opinions are just so dumb that they be considered null and void, and discredited immediately upon the synapse firing in "said" thinker's grey matter.

If someone had a personal preference for fucking around EXCLUSIVELY with partners that have debilitating, horrible sexually transmitted diseases, I'd have to say that that individual's "preferences" were just plain dumb.  Now some people have political, social, and relationship-oriented opinions that are the equivalent of the aforementioned example...............so why not tell them that their opinions are SHIT-ON-WHEAT BREAD?

Imagine a woman who constantly dates men that beat the living tar out her.  Now, her badly skewed opinion is that men who possess primary personality characteristics that also make them wife-beaters are desirable as life-partners.  We can't argue with her PERSONAL PREFERENCE, but we can tell her that her opinion is stupid.

None of those asshole counselors on the Lifetime Network ever looks at  REPEAT domestic abuse victims and says, in a moment of unrestrained candor "Why are you such a dumbass for going back to him?  Let's hope that your daughter isn't as hare-brained as you,  Janie." Now THAT would be tough love.

Everyone has a right to one, but it only becomes valid in a public debate (of any type) if there are facts or logic backing it up.

If I say the pigeon is the best horse ever, that can be my opinion, and no one can stop it.  Does it have any validity in anything?  Nope.

If I say the pigeon should be classed in with horses, based on the femoral shape and blood makeup, I may be full of shit, but my opinion may have a basis.  It's an opinion, but one which can be argued over. 

Anyone who says every opinion is equal is an ass, and that aint no opinion, in my opinion.

Thats a preference not an opinion. Now if you said there opinion was that people with std's made better sexual partners then yeah 'shit fer brains opinion'. Saying that who are we to judge? Can we prove their opinion is wrong?

Plain and simply because they are someones personal opinion and everyone is entitled to them.

Actually, it is an interesting point though - if someone believes every opinion is valid, even their opinion that it is valid, then there is nothing we can do to convince them otherwise.

Kinda like crack.

Status: offline 		I've had this discussion with people before and in my opinion everyones opinion is valid. Doesnt mean i have to agree with them but at least have the decency to recognise they are just as entitled to their opinion as i am my own.
I am very opinionated about certain things and will argue over them for hours but at the end of the day there is a big difference between fact and opinion and treat everyones opinion with respect.
