quote:
ORIGINAL: Zensee Who’s this WE, Erin? The vast majority of my friends celebrate solstice but, being respectful of other's religious beliefs, we also recognise Christmas and Hanukkah (all the more reason to celebrate). We are happy to share the season, why must Christians insist on monopolising it? By all means join the fun but please don’t piss in the eggnog. I know this was not directed at Me, but I will respond anyway[8D] The Celebration of Christmas is a Christian holiday. Chaunakah, or the Festival of Lights is a Jewish holiday, Kwaanza is an Black American cultural holiday with African overtones. Christians are not Monopolozing Christmas, we are simply celebrating the birth of Christ on the day we, as Christians have set aside to do so. If you wish to celebrate solstice, by all means do so, but do not expect Christians to stop celebrating Christmas. Perhaps you might like the all purpose winter religious and cultural festival that the cell phone companies were (jokingly) promoting, in which case you would be wished a happy chrismachaunakwaanzakah. I wish you well, Shreve
