ORIGINAL: FelinePersuasion Excuse me, but that is not true. I rode when I weighed 300 pounds, and no it did not damage the horse. And no there's no reason a 300 pound person can not ride. Fat does not mean you can't run either. in some cases yes, but all no. Based on what little horseback riding I did in the Scouts and the fact that once I ended up on a gigantic horse, I expect it'd be a combination of how strong (and, presumably) big the mount is, and how good the rider is at working with their own weight. To put it simply: Horses are pack animals. They've pulled plows, wagons loaded up with goods, furniture, and people - not every team heading west used oxen and gyspys used them to pull their cavarns. If someone thinks a horse is going to have trouble with a mere 300 pounds they are vastly underestimating our equine friends.
