I have decided to out myself to a vanilla friend. I'd rather do it in person, but we don't see each other that often due to distance. I've looked at numerous BDSM websites, but I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions for site(s) that explain this lifestyle to the vanilla world?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Female friend. She and I are always discussing our personal relationships and it's getting harder for me to talk about mine without some sort of explanation. And I just feel the need to be truthful with her.

I finally (after four years) told my best friend the other night. We talk a lot but are not able to get together often, so we discussed it in IM. It bothered me quite a bit that I had not told her yet and I still had a bit of trouble getting it out until she said she had quite an imagination and all this waiting meant she was filling in the blanks on her own.

After I told her she said it was good to be curious...until I mentioned how long I had been "curious" and to what extent. Then she said I was a freak and what the hell did BDSM mean anyway? If only I had thought ahead about an informational website! (hindsight...sighs)

She meant "freak" lovingly and I had myself all nervous and drew a blank on the initials so we had a good time making words up. She just rolled with it -- happy if I am happy. Of course I had to cut her off when she started mentioning that I didn't know all the things SHE had done with her husband. Gah! No details, I say, just the basics. You consumated the marriage? Fine, good, I can still look at him during holiday dinners without getting a visual.

For me it went very well, and I am glad not to have to keep this a secret from her anymore. I hope it goes as well with your friend.

I will see if I can find some articles on those sites that will work. I have visited both, but it's been awhile, so can't remember what all was available there.

When I left my husband he threatened to out me to everyone I know. I talked it all over with my best friend at that point, and she's asked a question here and there as the years have passed. Maybe it's our age, but she has been completely nonjudgmental. She loves me, so I'm ok with her. I'm not sure any Web site could have helped -- we all have such different needs and wants -- so I guess I'd suggest telling her all about *you.* You're what matters to her.

Give "vanilla" people more credit will'y? Please. Use me as example. I like to think I'm vanilla. Mainly becuase I never heard that word before I came here. But I heard it and frankly, I kinda like it! And what the hey. Look to your left and under my name says how many postings I have.
So If I figure Im vanilla yet I belong here, give your friend some credit. We all live and love in the same wolrd in 99% of all ways. Geesh. We're not so far apart. I come here because...I get it! I dont see that your so different than me. If anything maybe us "vanilla" folks are kinkier than you are. Just be. This is your friend. Just be friends and be real.

Red Stick is a pretty big place, go to the Barnes and Noble or such and waltz into the self help and skinny over to the spank me fuck me books and pick up Screw the Roses, send me the Thorns.........and Loving Dominant, which is written by a guy that looks like the guy on the book named John Warren, but the guy here is a faker cause he aint got no space in his name.........or actually, just write him and ask him via PM, he can't use a blowtorch and pipewrenches on you from here (he might be able to make you think he did) but anyway, ask his advice, he came out to the world, when country wasn't cool...........good resource right here on collarme, and a hell of a swell guy.

Oh I give her credit, but it's not always easy for some women to understand how another woman can submit herself to the total authority of a man

, much less the kink factor. I know she will accept me as the woman that I am, but I'd like to give her as much information as possible so she will hopefully understand it all better, before we see each other in person again...

Thank you again Ron. I do have the Loving Dominant, although it's been a while since I read it. Also have a couple of other BDSM books, but not Screw the Roses.... will have to check that one out.

Of course, it depends entirely on what your lifestyle is. There are so many.

However, with that said...I've also found that "Oooops" doesn't really answer all their questions.
